Have just returned from the Raddison at Golden Sands Malta and again have had a fantastic holiday.
Food is excellent at all 3 of the main restaurants in the hotel.
The Mokka bar serves excellent snacks & afternoon teas.
Staff very helpfull & polite.
Beautifull views 3 swimming pools + 1 heated indoor pool, spa, sauna gym private beach.
What more could you want.
Have booked up to go back again in June of 2013 can't wait

We were here for a special anniversary break and stayed in a 1 bed suite/apartment in the Twilight tower, with a sea view.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Service is excellent in all areas in the hotel, bars and restaurants. Accommodation was very good, spacious and with a good level of comfort. Sea view (from 4th floor) was lovely and with a double balcony there was ample outside space too. The spa was very good, we indulged in several treatments over the course of the week and enjoyed all of them - staff here very good too. The resort is a bit out of the way but there are several options to get about if you want to explore (mini bus, taxi and of course hire car - all of which can be arranged by the hotel at reasonable cost). There are local places to eat out of the resort and we tried Munchies on the beach and it was fine. I can't really think of anything negative to say but there will be good days and bad days anywhere. Although I would not visit regularly it will be near the top of the list for special breaks.

Room Tip: Sea view - do your homework for booking to make sure you get the right size room too.

This hotel is by far the best resort hotel on the Island!!! The service is first class, friendly and prompt. The views of both sea and countryside are beautiful.

We are a well-travelled couple in our late 30's so always keen to avoid noisy pool areas etc The pool area is big enough to find quiet corners for siesta time. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here watching the sun set on the lounge terrace with a bottle of Bubbly!

The hotel was opened by the Queen, which is very topical right now. The staff are very polite and cheerful, it has 3 pools, all the 4/5 star type facilities - spa, beauty salon, indoor pool, childrens' area, private part of beach, shops, bars and three restaurants. Room sizes are good and are well appointed with good quality fittings and also have balconies.

The 'Essence' restaurant is special, the chef really cares about his food and particularly it's flavours and presentation which are very good. The staff are knowledgeable, very pleasant and professional and the ambience is relaxed with good views across the bay ........this is fine dining and is an 'oasis of excellence' which is not to be missed. Described as a 'seafood' restaurant by the hotel, it has ample non-seafood dishes and should be described as 'fine dining'.

Lovely stay @ the Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Golden Sands

We just got back from a relaxing holiday @ the Radisson Blu Golden Sands with friends.
This review may be a little particular as we are members of the Island Residence Club but we hope this review will guide people through what to expect and the do’s and don’t s.
First of all let’s start with the hotel. This is really a wonderful hotel and all the premises are kept very nice and clear. Nice large rooms, beautiful views (especially when overlooking the bay), quiet area and most of all . . . gentle and friendly staff (ask for Rinaldo in het lobby and he will help you if you have any inquiries).
The beach area is well known and it can be pretty crowded especially during the summermonths. The hotel has a private area so if you don’t find a place at the swimming pool you can always try a place near the sea! The hotel has an indoor swimming pool for the cooler months, a gym area and a well equipped spa area with different treatments.
Okay this is not a ‘hot spot’ if you are looking for disco’s and other ambiance or nightlife but if you read the brochures you know that is a hotel to relax and enjoy the peaceful environment!
The food overall is very good and there is a lot of variety on the buffet. Of course one can always complain if you don’t find what you like the most but don’t forget you’re on holiday on an island!!!
And it must be said the Maltese kitchen is not bad at all!
The hotel has a number of restaurants such as Agliolio and Essence, there is a grill bar along the swimming pool and near the beach you find the Pebbles beach bar.
Still if you’re looking for something different you can go to Muchies on the beach (with very good comments in several guides) and to Apple’s Eye where you can go for reasonable priced food and drinks. Be there on sunday mornings as the islands motorcycles’ friends gather at this place (an event on itself). This is also the place where you can take the bus to explore the island.
As already mentionned we look through a different angle as we are proud members of the Island Residence Club. We are members since 2009 and have a penthouse suite on the 10th floor.
There are reviews talking about the selling techniques for time sharing and we must admit that we somtimes have mixed feelings with that. But a lot people are blind when they see an offer they can’t refuse to go on vacation for a week to Malta but one should read all the details!
We rather consider ourselves as having a ‘fractional ownership’ in one of Malta’s loveliest places. Therefore we would like to thank our contactperson ‘Nino’ from ‘member services’ who’s our guardian angel and who helps us when we have questions regarding availability, transfers, (rental) exchange and more of those things. Thank you Nino for that! (and of course all the other members of the service departement). People who want more information can always ask for Nino who can pass your questions to our private e-mailaddress and we will send our feedback without any problem.
Regarding exploing the island we have seen almost the whole island during our previous stays: Valletta, Sliema, St Julian’s, Paceville, Marsaxlokk, Medina, Bugibba, Qwara, Blue Grotto, Gozo, Mellieha and a lot more.
So here are some do’s and some don’t’s
Do’s: relax on the beach or near the pool, go for a romantic dinner at Essence, try Muchies restaurant on the Beach, watch either sunrise or sunset from your terrace, try one of the many treatments at the MyOka Spa, enjoy the tranquil environment, take the hop on hop offbus if you want to explore the island!
Don’t s: don’t let the peptalk change your idea about the hotel, don’t look after nightlife such as disco’s as this is not St Julian's or Paceville, don’t think you are in the Carribean although you will find palmtrees an no this is not an All Inclusive resort therefore you will find other countries!

We own one of the timeshare apartments at Golden Sands and I have to say the quality of the hotel and food is fantastic. The pool area is lovely and there was always a free sunlounger no matter what time of day (we travelled the last week of May). The food at Agliolio (Italian) was superb and many locals use it too. We also ate at Essence (very good value set menu for 35 euros), Flavours buffet (great choice and quality for a buffet - one of the best I've seen) and Mokka (bar food) - all we could not fault. As timeshare owers we get 20% off all food and drink which makes the price very reasonable too.

We hired a car for the week and that gave us the freedom to see some of the island and also eat out locally on a couple of occasions. I would recommend Rebekah's in Mellieha (beautiful food and restaurant) and also Tarragon in St Paul's Bay (both are a short drive / taxi journey from the hotel).

Mdina is definately worth a visit - we had lunch at Fontanella tea garden and the views are fantastic (you can see for miles!).

The Blue Lagoon (on the small island of Comino) is beautiful however I would recommend you get there early - it becomes very busy. The sea at the end of May was still very cold but I imagine as its very shallow that it in mid summer it would be lovely and warm.

Don't let the timeshare part put you off (I understand that there are some good deals to stay here if you go to one of the presentations) - it's a great hotel with lovely beach (rare in Malta), staff are all very friendly and great quality accommodations.

Just wanted to say we had a fantastic week at Radisson's Golden Sands Resort in Ghan Tuffieha, Malta. Now our 4th visit and have to say this was the best yet. Great location, amenities and pleasant, helpful staff. Would recommend it to any visitors to Malta. Not the cheapest, but you are paying for the quality. 10/10
