just returned home from another fantastic week at the Golden Bay. Everything as expected, great food, very friendly staff, very clean. this was our 5th visit and looking forward to returning again at Easter in 2015. As always, Henri (Mr Deacon) had everything under control - his is the flagship of the hotel - nothing else to say other than brilliant!!!

I stayed once again at the Radisson Golden Sands. I value the repeat guest recognition. The hotel is very well maintained. The employees seem highly motivated, very friendly and attentive. The beach is the best on the Island and one can enjoy a swim in the clean sea in proximity of the hotel. Swimming Pool is also large and clean and perfect for kids or swimming exercise. Spa has a large choice of quality treatments. Overall, simply an excellent hotel with good value for money.

We decided to come to the Radisson Blu at golden sands for our honeymoon (having visited Malta several times)
We chose the hotel as we wanted a bit of luxury in an isolated position.
On arrival we were surprised at the number of cars and couldn't park, we left the car at reception where the hotel manager helped us find a space.
Upon checking in the receptionist requested the details from the agent for our room, we explained that my phone had run out of battery and we would charge and bring the email to show the details. She had our booking on the computer and we had proved ID with passports. However, she then requested the full payment was given, via credit card, until we had 'proved' that we'd paid!!!
The manager sorted this out for us and allowed us to email the proof as soon as the phone had recharged. A 300euro credit card payment was blocked on our account for 'expenses'
We checked into our 'country view' room and could not believe how noisy it was from the campsite that was literally outside our window. There was a band playing and a few hundred people enjoying themselves. As we'd come for a quiet holiday we requested an upgrade (at a cost of 450euros!)
We were moved to the sea view suite which was much more spacious and was on the 7th floor.
The room was spotless, cleaned daily and the aircon was a godsend!
The fridge mini bar was automatically charged to your account if you removed an item, so when we'd opened the door and beer fell out we were charged for it!
The beds were very comfortable and we had no complaints with the room or service.
The staff were incredibly helpful and polite and the food in Flavours for breakfast was above average, it was amazing!
Food in Mokka was also great - the portions are enormous and the quality was fantastic!
My husband loved the cakes and worked his way through the wonderful selection!!

On thursday there was some disruption around the pool when approx 20-30 locals had come to use the pool. Security were asking them to leave but they were arguing as some of them had cards to use the facilities. Security allowed them to stay, rather that cause a riot, they were noisy, rude and took over. We left the poolside and used the indoor pool
I'm guessing this isn't a regular thing, but it tainted the day.

Downpoints
Country view - is a campsite that will be noisy
private beach is TINY
the beach is well used by locals and holiday makers alike until very late at night

Plus points
excellent food
friendly and polite staff
luxurious surroundings
Marius in the spa has amazing hands and gives wonderful massages

We would return but we'd book a sea view, 4-5 days rather than a week and possibly at a less busy time of the year.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room

Beautiful location but very disappointed with the level of attention and management. The hotel looks very worn out in certain areas though the beach and Pebbles bar is excellent.

Staff in Flavours restaurant were very friendly but the man in a suit seemed to be going through the same routine every morning with a false smile.

We attended a beach BBQ party which was very expensive for what we experienced, the food and entertainment was poor. The setting was the highlight of the BBQ.

The hotel has a lovely private beach but the food and drinks are very expensive around the hotel. The singers that play at night could certainly be better as it is a form of cabaret with backing music but then i guess they are limited in quality as it is a small island.

We actually payed to go on holiday so did not go through the timeshare experiences mentioned by some on here so cannot share any experiences.

All in all lovely location but not 5*

Good Afternnon,

Thank you for your review.

I am indeed surprised with the statement that the ‘hotel looks very worn out in certain areas’ as continuous investment and refurbishment has taken place even recently.

Being in the hospitality industry we understand the importance of ensuring every aspect of a guest’s visit to this resort is afforded the individual personal care and attention by our staff. It is of course the attention to detail, that separates a hotel from the rest and allows it to enjoy an excellent reputation. It seems that we were unable to provide you with the experience we are renowned for during your stay with us, for which we apologise.

We look forward to welcome you back and have the opportunity to change your impression.

Kind Regards,

Karla

We had a great holiday here with my family - the room was perfect, the pool and recreation areas ideal for my little ones, good food & service at all the restaurants, and nice entertainment each night in the bar. While the hotel is removed from the main towns of Malta, it is such a small island so very accessible to drive in to Valletta or Mdina (well worth the visit!)

Had a wonderful first few days thinking what a nugget we had found in Malta.Staff are wonderful and food lovely.Nice facilities and nice location if you just want to relax.
On Wednesday everything went down hill when we were informed a youth festival was happening on the camp site over which our room was located. To our HORROR music was blasting until 2am and was so loud we were all zombies the next day.Lo and behold were then told this festival was carrying on until Monday!
Spoke to Shawn(manager) and asked to be relocated away from site to be told no rooms to switch to.VERY disappointed with end of what started as a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: Places to eat on beach half the price and also shop near pool much cheaper too

Good mmorning,

I must apologise for the inconvenince caused by the loud music played by the organisers of The World Labour Youth Forum. The hotel owners are doing there utmost to regularise this situation and we are meeting up with the highest government officials .

This is the first time in our nine year operation that we have faced such an issue.

thank you

Having stayed at the resort several times, there's no place if rather be. After our first stay
My three boys on our stay to a private apartment wanted nothing more than a day spent at the radisson blu, upon our visit we decided that this is the only place in Malta we would ever need for all of our needs and we are about to embark on our third family visit tomorrow, having stayed for a week in July as a couple. I love the remote location, just what we all need for a peaceful and fun filled break, S & C car rentals provide us with a car from only 23 euros per day for any off resort activities. There are always available sun loungers around the massive pools and the private beach is perfect. Room standards are always 5* and there is nothing the friendly and helpful staff won't arrange or do for you. Sabrina in the deli is my favourite member of staff - always welcoming, accommodating, helpful and recognised us the very first time we returned, she is lovely, as are all the staff. It's the little touches that make this resort so amazing, I once lost my purse and upon telling reception, they had looked at the CCTV, tracked down what had happened to it and returned it within an hour. I would recommend Essence, which has a set price menu at 29 euros on off peak days, outside dining is lovely, and Agliolio for booking an outside table to watch the sun go down, oh and munchies off resort for a budget priced meal but not budget food, apples eye cafe for family friendly prices and sports matches if you are a man united fan and don't want to miss your footie, they're desserts are amazing, oh and Mokka bar for coffee and their cakes are to die for. Make sure you make time for the breakfast buffet in the hotel for your own omelette chef and as many Buck's Fizz or mimosas as you care to pour and every breakfast delight you could imagine, my mouth is watering already.
