Just returned. Fantastic hotel! Recommend b&b as great choice of food and really nice atmosphere. Charlotte especially welcoming as we're receptionists. Sorted anything we asked for immediately. Really nice cafe/ bar. With air con and sofas. Didn't use restaurant but looked great. Roof top pool perfect for adults and also kids as 1.4m at deepest and very clean. Lots of sun loungers and great bar by pool. Room fine - we had studio with curtain separating us from kids. Small balcony, great air con! Views not great but quieter at back of hotel and great views from pool on roof anyway. Busy main road at front of hotel with lots of buses but it's in a town and it's great to walk out to catch bus to beach. Quiet by about 11 pm anyway. Bus tkts are valid whole day or a week and you can travel all over Island and tickets are very cheap. Drivers bit wild and buses packed, but it's an experience. Beach lovely and sea shallow. Didn't see any jellyfish but there are some apparently. Loads of nice restaurants along street and some at sea front. Recommend visit to Gozo as ferry easy to get from here. Avoid Comino as small beach area packed with day trippers like penguins on an outcrop and it spoils blue lagoon experience, unless you get boat you can swim from. Thanks you Solana, we loved the hotel! Family of fours itch teenager!!

Room Tip: Rooms at back quieter but view not brilliant!

I have just spent a week here 25th July-1st August and had a great time.
We had a room with a balcony facing the front. Although it was noisy during the day the night times were quite quiet. The rooms were well maintained and comfortable.
The food was great, we went half board and we were full at the end of each meal. Pork is a popular dish as it is served every night (but is always cooked to perfection) and the staff in the Bellini restaraunt are great. One of the chefs, Shaka I think, was always really happy and made us feel really welcome.
Cafe Puccini was also really great, reasonably priced food and lovely staff. Especially Zsilvia who was always pleased to see us and was very accomodating.
The receptionists were always really helpful aswell.
The hotel is situated in the perfect position and is in easy reach to the shops and bars and restaraunts, there was more to do here than down at the beach. Also, the rooftop pool was brilliant as it had a lovely breeze and a little bar.
I could go on about this hotel and could not fault it in anyway and hope to return again in the future.

Stayed here for one week half board cannot fault the staff and food was plentiful and a good choice something for everyone. Easy to get about bus stop right outside 1.50 euro gets you about the island all day. Would defiantly recommend and look forward to trip back. Did upgrade room for balcony believe there are budget rooms with no windows.

We've just returned from a weeks stay. When we checked in there were no issues, we'd upgrade to a 1 bed apartment which I'm pleased we did. On entering our rooms they were very clean and spacious. The kids had their own bathroom as did we, our room had the cupboard kitchen and the smallest balcony I've seen.

We stayed half board as from our last years holiday found out how expensive it is to eat out for 4. The food was ok, wasn't excellent, but not awful. Breakfast was our favourite. We did eat out on our last night at Ta Peter across the road and that was very nice. It cost for 4 with no starters, 2 desserts and steak for hubby €80 rounding up. If staying at the hotel self carrying you can pay day by day to eat at the Bellini restaurant. I had asked if we could eat at Tosca restaurant but was told we'd have to pay for an entire meal, so we didn't.

The pool area was really good confident in its on the roof. The pool itself was not the biggest but in the heat it was a relief. The kids enjoyed it, we managed to get sunbeds at 3 in the afternoon, so no issues there. The bar food and drink is a bit on the steep side, but you can always go to the shop across the road for drinks and snacks.

As per a previous review the gym was not much to write home about. I had chosen this hotel because of the gym as my hubby likes all that. He got on the cross trainer and managed to get it off the runners, but who gies on holiday to go to the gym?

All in all my family and I had a relaxed holiday. We would go back to malta, but a different resort.

The buses are a law unto themselves. You wait ages for one, then 3-4 turn up in quick succession, but for €6 unlimited daily ticket got 4 you can't go wrong. We were lucky in that we didn't have to wait too long.

If your looking for a relaxing place to stay then this is the one. I was slightly disappointed to see us put in an internal room without a view but who spends much time in the hotel rooms anyway.

Hotel:-
Very clean communal areas and an easy to navigate hotel. The staff were very polite and happy to chat and make conversation. The pool area is lovely and offers great views on Mellieha, the church and the sea. The road is right outside the front door meaning it can be busy with traffic however yin cannot hear this from the balcony or terrace on the roof. We were half board and always found something to eat. We did feel it was very samey samey but what was in offer was very nice.

Room:- We had two balconies but due to it being an internal room, we never used them apart from drying clothes. The room was a good size and offered all facilities which were needed. The room was cleaned every day by the maid and fresh towels everyday. The air con made the room like a fridge which was ideal most days due to the temperature outside.

Location:- It was easy to access the beach and other towns via very reasonably priced taxis or the busses which come past the hotel every few minutes. The beach was a short distant away and again could be accessed via the busses.

Overall, a lovely hotel and a nice place to stay, it was full of families and couples alike so is ideal for anybody looking for a reasonably priced holiday.

We came back from our week long break in Malta staying at the Solana hotel.
we were in room 2305 which is located on the 1st floor overlooking shrubland and some private apartments.

The room itself was spacious, there seemed to be an awful lot of ants on the floor but other then that the room was fine.
The bathroom was a good size, the actual main room itself had a double bed and a double sofa bed. It also has a hob and fridge and microwave and plenty of storage space.

We had breakfast in the Bellini restaurant each day and i cannot fault the food it was lovely.

All in all we found the staff polite and helpful and friendly.

The Tosca restaurant which is part of the solana was divine the food and level of service was excellent.

The gym was rather dated, some of the machines don't work, we booked this hotel as it offered a gym but i was not overly impressed to be honest, but then not everyone uses a gym on holiday so that is just my personal point of view.

There is not alot to do with children in this particular part of mellieha.
