“Disappointing.”

Had really high hopes for this hotel. Our room was situated on the same level as the grand hall and directly next door to the service lift. 2 of our 4 night were interrupted by hotel guest gathering outside our room to smoke, the service lift was noisy and constantly in use when functions were being held. The bathroom flooded without fail every time we used it and unless you're under 5ft tall the shower is rendered useless as its mounted far too low on the wall. The sun roof bar and terrace looked disused, tables and chairs were thick with dust. On our last evening we agreed with the evening receptionist that a 3pm check out would be acceptable, upon returning to our room at 13.15 we found the key card no longer unlocked our room, when I checked with reception I was told that a 3pm check out was no longer possible and we needed to check out immediately. Less than impressed we showered and checked out in record time. No 'how was your stay' or 'did we meet your expectations' on check out. On the positive side, breakfast team and breakfast was excellent. Pool was very nice and quiet.

My husband and I enjoyed a very peaceful stay at the grand hotel, the staff were very helpful and polite, the breakfast wonderful, a huge choice. We enjoyed relaxing and swimming in the roof pool. Thank you everyone

We stayed in a superior sea view room and it was beautiful, the hotel is ideally located overlooking Mgarr harbour with Comino and Malta in the distance. The room was spacious, clean and comfotable, with a large and very soft bed. The breakfast is very good and dinners in the restaurant are good quality but there is not a big variety of choice in the menu. All of the staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and efficient. We would not hesitate to stay in this hotel again, it was great value and only five minutes walk from bars, restaurants and local bus.

We stayed for 5 nights in early June in a Superior Sea View room @ 130 euros per night B&B, our room was basically a suite in the new part of the hotel and very good value for money. The view over the port was superb. The room had 2 balconies and plenty of space. The bed was very comfortable. Our only gripe was the shower which was in a wet room design but the floor flooded every time we had a shower, and that was using only the hand held shower attachment on the wall bracket and not using the full rain shower. It all looked very fancy but didn't work.

The great plus to this hotel was the dining room staff who were very friendly and efficient, and the breakfasts and dinners were of good quality. The bar staff were also friendly. The reception staff were not so approachable and we thought could learn from their colleagues elsewhere in the hotel.

We had a good Wifi signal in the room so easy to keep in touch with home and business.

Pool was clean and well maintained, plenty of sunloungers for sunbathing (in June anyway).

All in all, the Grand is a comfortable place to stay on Gozo, close to a well stocked supermarket and about 5 restaurants, plus the Hop On Hop Off buses which we found useful for touring the island.

Room Tip: Higher the better to get a good view of the port and reduce any traffic noise

Your comments relating to the friendliness and efficiency of service at both our bar and restaurant were shared with the team. We apologise that we did not manage to replicate the same kind of quality service at our Front Desk and we would like to assure you that we do take customer service delivery very seriously.

On the day of arrival, rooms are inspected to ensure all is functioning in order, however it seems that we have missed on the bathroom for which we deeply apologise.

Another short stay at this excellent hotel. Spotless, spacious room....very good breakfast...nice, sizeable, clean pool.....excellent service. Garage still requires some upgrading. Would definitely return. Keep up the excellent work.

The Grand really should be a 5 star, we had a fabulous room, spacious with amazing views over the harbour and the roof top swimming pool, which was a bonus for our 14 year old son. The staff could not do enough for us, the food was excellent, along with the whole dining experience and the service was exceptional. This is our first time to Gozo, which we absolutely loved and we can't wait to return and stay at The Grand Hotel again.

Really lovely stay (a week in May) in a gorgeous location, overlooking the busy-yet-tranquil harbour of Mgarr on the peaceful, friendly island of Gozo. Room was spacious and clean, good sized pool and nice breakfast buffet. Housekeeping were friendly (extra points for finding a piece of clothing we thought had been lost!) and reception staff knowledgeable and efficient. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as there are so many amazing restaurants within a 5-minute walk - search restaurants in Mgarr on Trip Advisor for advice - but menu looked good.

Definitely worth paying extra for a sea-view; it's beautiful.

Mgarr seemed to be an excellent place to stay on Gozo: peaceful and pretty with great food, easy to get to the rest of the island but also ideally placed to get to the main island of Malta and to Comino quickly.
