This is a very special place and we loved it. Very friendly and accomodating staff and great facilities. Unfortunately the beach was closed when we were there but it looked absolutely fantastic and I would have felt so privileged to swim there. This is a million miles from the ubiquitous glitz of modern 5* hotels, if this is what you are looking for then stay in the San Lawrenz. The hotel is elegant and and understated and the 'tired around the edges bits' actually add to its charm.
There were a few minor irritants e.g. no newspaers available for guests, having to exchange vouchers for pool towels (or be fined 20 euros), not quite as clean as it should be (grouting, silicone, base of taps etc and I got covered in cobwebs when I leant behind the table lamp to plug in my pc), hot breakfast food was stone cold if you went early - I can only assume it was pre-cooked and place in the serving urns to warm up using the little flames designed to keep food warm.

However these irritants were more than compensated for by the overall ambience and location of this unique hotel. We would stay again.

Fantasic holiday. We have been to Malta/Gozo 4 times in the last 10 years. This is one of the best holidays on Gozo. It is very quiet, laid back and relaxing. Staff are extremely helpful and attentive. Restaurant is very nice, if a little expensive. There are 2 local restaurants within walking distance (2-5 mins walk). Either opposite holiday entrance or take the right hand road leading off the roundabout and a 5 min walk. We will definitely return

Having just returned from our third autumn break here in three years, I can't praise this hotel highly enough. It's not brash nor ostentatious but still has every facility you could wish for. The rooms are very comfortable, the restaurant with it's outside courtyard area with ancient Carob tree couldn't be surpassed and all the staff are so pleasant, polite and helpful. The hotel itself, all at ground level, blends perfectly into the surrounding Gozitan countryside. Wonderful gardens and planting including hibiscus, bougainvillea, jasmine, trumpet vine and canary bush mean that there are gorgeous, colourful plants wherever you look. You can walk directly out of the back of the hotel onto an extensive wild limestone plateau, left to nature for centuries. There are plenty of scenic walks you can take directly from the hotel, so if you want a thoroughly relaxing break in a beautiful hotel, then Ta' Cenc is for you. P.S. The spa and pools are excellent also.

My girfriend and I have stayed at Hotel Ta' Cenc & Spa twice during the past two months,
the latest as recently as mid-October. She utterly loved the place and will not stop talking
about it - and singing its praises. And so do I.
So, I simply cannot 'recognise' in the least the adverse comments made by 'Shabasi' about
this delightful and tranquil place during their recent stay there.
Ta' Cenc is a first-rate, well-maintained and well-run establishment; it also provides
excellent service and fine cuisine, with staff who are both helpful and polite.
I recommend Ta' Cenc without any reservations.

Room Tip: Take a room pool-side.

If you like relaxing and views over countryside to the sea with good food and service this is for you. We stayed for four days here. The food was very good with a great selection at breakfast of cold and hot. Tables outside under the carob tree in sunshine. Wonderful!
The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful - with a special mention to the chambermaids.
Three pools to choose from and I especially liked going to the spa and using the jacuzzi which was free to people staying at the hotel as was the lagoon pool - half in and half outside. The gardens and the way the plantings had been done were beautful. We had a spacious room and bathroom in a country view plus room which looked over a cactus hedge, over the cliffs and further to the sea.

We stayed here for a week in July, our second time, and loved it. The room was very comfortable, the food is wonderful at breakfast, lunch (try the fresh Gozo cheese with local olives and capers, wonderfully fragrant olive oil and basil from the hotel garden) and dinner (with a special mention for the weekly Gozitan buffet, a chance to sample local wines and many savory and sweet specialities) and the grounds are exceptional, wide open views over the cliffs to Malta in the distance and mature gardens, including hibiscus, bougainville, olive trees and lots of flowers, not to mention an amazing carob tree shading the entire breakfast area. We avoided the family pool (cute kids but a little noisy) and opted for either the adults pool (no cell phones, just peace and quiet) or the wonderfully landscaped outdoor spa pool which felt like a private oasis. We also swam in the private beach, which provides deep clear waters, perfect for snorkeling if you don't mind trekking or driving down the cliffs to the hidden cove (the hotel also offers a regular shuttle). Choose Ta'Cenc for an authentic Gozo experience, we would not dream of going elsewhere on the island.

As a repeat guest at the Hotel ta’ Cenc for the past ten years, I really cannot understand how anybody can compare the Ta’ Cenc with any other hotel even more so with a city type hotel. The superb location with fantastic views of the whole Maltese Islands, the unique layout – each bungalow type bedroom, all on ground level surrounded by natural botanical gardens, surely it is unbeatable obviously for those looking for peace and quiet in natural surroundings.
Some of the bathrooms, present rustic design with hand painted flora found on the vast territory adjoining the hotel.
Unlike the indoor pools found in most hotels, the unique indoor/outdoor heated pool together with the whole Spa is surrounded by gardens, and the only thing I have always noticed was the birds singing in the background.
It is surprising how someone who has visited Gozo on previous occasions and as he said had an enjoyable stay at the hotel he mentioned, opted to go to another hotel.
Fully aware of the impeccable service and great care and attention which all the staff together with the management show to their clients, I found comments made most unfair to all concerned.
