This is the third time we have been to this hotel but the first time as a family with our two young boys (1 and 4). We were there for 3 nights as a break and everything was divine. We enjoyed our days by the family pool after a sumptuous breakfast and only left the hotel for dinner in the evening. This is my recommendation for relaxing break. And it's the little surprises that the friendly staff spring upon you that I most enjoyed. Like complimentary home made ice-tea served by the pool or the freshly baked fruitcake served during breakfast. And everyone is polite and friendly and very accommodating with us and our children - from the gardener to the breakfast staff, from the receptionists to the room maids, from the chef to the restaurant manager Mario whom our littlest one seemed to particularly to like and look out for. Thank you all for a great break and look forward to staying again!!

I stayed here last September with my new husband and haven't stopped thinking about it since! We stayed for 1 week in a lovely room overlooking the pool. One night we watched a magnificent lightening storm from our balcony. The hotel gave us champagne and chocolates in our room for our honeymoon, which was lovely. Breakfast every morning was amazing with so much choice. We ate in the trattoria restaurant on our first night and had lovely pizzas. The hotel is a little out of the way so the hotel staff helped us with hiring a car to really do Gozo properly, and it's a fabulous island. We used the hotel spa one day and had a couple's hamman experience, which was peaceful and lovely to do together. Hoping that we can come back in a few years for an aniversary holiday.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the pool and it was lovely

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved it. It was the perfect setting to chill out and take in some sun. We were upgraded when we arrived as we were on our honeymoon. The staff were unbelievable, so attentive and accommodating. The restaurants were brilliant and the food fantastic. The only down points was that our double bed was actually two singles pushed together but that's a small downer. The other down point was that we were at the end of one of the wings on a floor that didn't connect to the main building and so we had a few minutes walk and a flight of stairs every time we wanted to go to the bar or leave, however, this was a very small complaint to an overall lovely stay. We would definitely come back here as their hospitality and attention to detail made the stay, magic. For us travelling is all about value for money and we definitely got it here.

We spent a week here mid June staying in a premium pool view room.

We loved most things about the hotel and were very impressed with the spa. The Hamman is fabulous, all the staff we encountered were great and the four treatments we had were all good.

We were disappointed with the room we were first allocated though there had been some sort of mix up. It was on the fifth floor and had a very small covered balcony which for us didn't make it a premium view room as we wouldn't use it! We were promised a different room the following day which was organised with no fuss. This room was on the sixth floor with a large sunny balcony, was a much lighter nicer room and had a much more comfortable bed. Common to both however was the fact that the showers are very tired which is a shame as otherwise the second room was great and very comfy.

The hotel never felt too busy, there was plenty of room around the pools and we had a few nice casual meals in both the bar and on room service. The breakfast terrace is lovely and the bar also had a good terrace for evening sun.

We found the Kempinski to be a great base for a relaxing holiday. Everything you need is close by and there are plenty of good walks right from the doorstep. We would definitely return given the right room.

- rooms large, comfy but slightly outdated
- pools lovely
- pool restaurant - great food - fantastic steak and cheese board
- pool bar prices massively inflated (diet coke from a plastic bottle €3 for a small glass
...........this is the worst one...........€18 for a taxi into Victoria. Apparently there is some kind of monopoly going on involving the Kempinski and private local taxi companies. We paid €18 for our transfer from Gozo ferry to the hotel. Outrageously we paid the same price for a 5 minute journey to a restaurant in Victoria to be told that we had to book the same one back later on after we had finished dinner........I don't think so!!!! Although we did have to pay €14 which is a total rip off. What is going on between Kempinski and the restaurants/taxis? This needs to be investigated. Would hire a car next time,.......how can Gozo taxi prices compare with those in London? But they do!

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experiences with us.

Our hotel provides a free shuttle service to all our in house guests to Victoria, Ramla beach and Marsalforn, therefore we can assure you that there is no monopoly going on involving the hotel and the private local taxi companies. We as a hotel do not have any influence on the transfer rates as the prices are regulated by the taxi companies.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our pool and restaurant facilities.

Thank you once again for your time. On behalf of the hotel team we look forward to welcoming you again to the Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz in the near future.

Regards,

Alberto Hormigo Cebolla

Just returned from a fantastic week at this lovely hotel! Have visited Gozo several times but always stayed in villas so was a real treat to stay here & it did not disappoint!! We had a very large & beautiful room overlooking one of 3 pools! The staff are extremely attentive especially at breakfast -which has a vast choice & was wonderful! Could not fault this hotel at all & really hope will return there soon!!
