If you want to be treaded like dirt, this is the place to be!
Owner and staff really unfriendly and rude. And they charge you for everything.
Wen I got here the owner asked me if I wanted coffee or tea. I thought: thats nice, a welcoming drink (happened to me before, so nice)
No, she let here staff tell me I had to pay for it, later on.
It is very cold up here.
I slept on a thin matress with a really thin blanket. Extra blanket? 5r. Extra matress? (Weird, they know the matresses are bad, right?) 5r. Electricity? 5r. Towel? 2r. Did my laundry (1,5kilo) costed me 20r. Didnt even wash it with soap.
No lockers, but they will not take the blame if something gets stolen.
And it didnt feel save to leave my passport or anything here.
They took off early in the evening and played loud music in there house, above the dorm.
No walls, no inside, when they leave they lock the restaurant and wifi in the restaurant/sitting area only.
Go to your room, to get out of the cold: no wifi.
What was really, REALLY rude:
I was happy and did the thumbs up sign. Every time I got near them, they made fun of me, in malaysian.... Doing what I did.
Crappy place!
Only good thing is: it is near the entrence of the park.
But thats all.
The reason of their additude.
Spend a bit more in another place and enjoy! Certenly if you are planning on hiking the mountain!

We stayed here for two nights to be close the the park. The room was freezing, definitely needed the blanket they provided. The shower was warm but you could only stay in it for about five minutes before the water ran out and you had to wait for it to heat up again. The food was ok. I explained that i was a vegetarian but each time we had breakfast they would bring out bread with sausages. We had the worst nights sleep here, which wasn't the fault of the hostel but there is a karaoke bar across the road and there were some of the worst singers we have ever heard wailing into the small hours of the night. It drove us crazy! Plus the hostel is right by a really busy road so you can hear trucks passing all day and very early in the morning. Only 5 mins walk from the park and here are lovely views over the valley but they are about the only two positive things from staying here.

On the plus side, this place is very close to the entrance to the park. But the property is very old and run down, and my room was large but very uncomfortable, and the balconies face away from Mount Kinabalu. True, there was plenty of hot water, service was quite good, and to the owners' credit, the restaurant has very reasonable prices considering residents have nowhere else to go as this is very far from Kundasang village. But at the price (RM 120), this place is very overpriced.

Room Tip: All the rooms look identical. Not much to choose from.

I had a bed from a shared dorm, just for one night, and that was quite enough. The place is basically in good location, by a hillside, but also right next to a big road, so expect it to be noisy. The common areas, room and beds were really worn out and the mattresses looked like there could be something living in them. Bed linen were clean though, but I used my sleeping bag liner just in case anyway. Breakfast was this strange English-style chicken sausage + fried egg + toast combo, not exactly the tastiest ever. On the good side, the staff were friendly, especially the girl at the reception. And they had beautiful flowers in the garden.

Family of four (2 adults, 2 teens), stayed two nights around new year. Booked knowing it would be a basic, budget place, turned out to be just right for what we were after and left wishing we could have stayed longer. Great location, short stroll to the park entrance. Booked a deluxe family room, which had two bedrooms (queen in one, two singles in other), bathroom and large balcony with awesome views; simple but clean and comfortable. Great atmosphere, with friendly and helpful staff and great restaurant area (free wifi in restaurant). Included brekky was a bonus and filling (fried egg, two slices of bread with butter & jam, a sausage, baked beans and tea or coffee). Restaurant meals at other times were all really good, big serves and well priced; good selection of drinks including beer. Overall, a great budget option, will definitely stay again except for longer next time.

This is a mountain lodge at 4,800 feet above sea level. I stayed in this lodge to meet some motorcycle travelers coming up from the opposite side on their 6th day riding in Sabah. This is one of those budget hotel which is quite near from the Kinabalu National Park. It is simply a place to sleep and eat for the night. Suitable for mountain climbers whose main purpose is to head for the mountain or just a stopover before going to the city after a long and tiring hike or travel. This lodge also sell used cold weather clothing and accessories for those who came unprepared. There is not much facility around except for a lone desktop for internet access rental. Wifi access is free for the guests but the line could be useless at times. The room balcony has the view of the Bundu Tuhan valley below. The rooms entrance faces an unpaved gravel road and only several meters from the busy main road. I was kept awake from the sound of lorries and overnight buses which seems to be too close for comfort. Suitable for those simply looking for a place to bed down and too tired to be bothered about noise level. I have to endure cold water for shower only to learn later that the water heater switch is somewhere outside.

Room Tip: There is no twin bed available only large double bed. If 2 guys share the same bed just pray hard t...

Cramped dorms, with hardly enough room to put your bag down. A room size that should have been at most filled with 8-beds was filled with 12! Also, the restaurant is very overpriced and not that great. I had ordered the fried vegetables and received a plate full of steamed cabbage in oyster sauce, literally only cabbage. Other dishes people around me ordered had spring onion. Wouldn't recommend a stay here, even though it's so close to the park. If you happen to stay, perhaps eat your food at the restaurant right infront of Kinabalu Park.

Room Tip: Dorm 5 may have a larger area than dorm 6 where I stayed. Just ask the staff!
