We sat in the sun soaked court yard and ate fresh Greek salad... Well, one Greek and one chicken Caesar... It has to be one of the freshest salads I've eaten in a restaurant and the feta was amazing! The service was prompt and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend.

First impression on arriving at the Tap Bar was wow! Its very olde worldy and has a lot of history to the place. My husband was very taken with the medieval cellar in the beer garden. The mural on the beer garden wall was fascinating and we spent quite some time soaking it all in before checking in to our room.

In the main bar were you check in I was very happy to see non traditional bar snacks!! Yummy freshly cooked cakes, slices and biscuits to have with a well deserved cuppa! Bliss The area was well it and spacious. The staff were very friendly and couldn't of been more helpful and made us feel at home like old friends straight away.

We were shown to our room which is not connected to the bar but it across the courtyard and up some very quirky stairs, the whole place oozes old charm! There are wooden beams, old sash windows, the floors slope because of the age it was built.

We were staying in room 1 for two nights. It was a lovely spacious room, we had bottled water, tea and coffee supplied. The room was clean and tidy and full of colour as you expected it should be. I liked the fact we were away from the main bar as it meant we couldn't hear any noise from the bar in the evening.

We had breakfast both mornings, the pancakes, bacon and maple syrup were quite simply the best we have had in a long time and my husband is an avid pancake fan! We had the tap breakfast as well and the waitress was lovely, we all wanted to change our meal slightly and she wasn't phased at all and we got our food in a timely manner and all as described. It was delicious and well worth the money if not more. Both mornings we ate outside in the courtyard which was lovely, they served us food and drink at the table and didn't request money up front which we have come to find with many places we stay. The prices were really reasonable for all meals and the drinks were well priced compared to other places in the area. To be honest I would of ben happy to pay a little bit more for the atmosphere and charm of the Tap.

The bed was so comfy we could of slept the day away, there was plenty of pillows, a duvet and a top blanket which reminded me of my Nans house. It instantly made me feel warn and welcome to have the bed dressed in such a way, not all hospital like many places we have stayed!

Overall we had a great weekend in a great location, the staff really could not of been nicer and any more helpful than they were! The room was well worth £50 if not more a night. We will definitely be returning soon and hope nothing has changed!

Very disappointed, stayed here recently and paid £65 a night, no breakfast, curtains hanging off, window would nt stay open, rooms are in separate building to bar, stairs up smell of wet dog, bathroom needs a complete revamp, no bedside light and t v didn't work, won't be staying there again.

We love to visit Ward, UK. One of our favorite pubs is The Tap. We decided to stay there during our rescent visit. The owner and staff are so nice and helpful; the food is still very good; the location is perfect; and the room was clean, but small. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the room, you will not be happy, but we were constantly on the go.

Painted with like ancient Rome on entering the beer garden then into the plush clean inviting bar. Plenty of different wines and beers to choose from. Prices were not too extreme for this neck of the woods. I would come here again.

My wife and I were visiting family in the Ware area and called into the tap bar for sunday lunch. We ordered the daily special of roast chicken and seasonal vegetables. We got half a roast very small chicken, barely one spoon of carrots and some very small roast potatoes, topped off with sage and onion . Very poorly cooked absolutely no taste.
We sat outside with our dog, as we have done on previous occasions. The yard was dirty and general building and plants etc. were very run down. This used to be very good as we have been before but will not call again.

We visited here on Easter Monday and the food and service were brilliant.

The choice of food was good. Unfortunately it was too cold to sit outside, but when it's warmer it would be lovely to sit outside.

The interior is well decorated and clean, and offers a very warm welcome.

It was also good value for money.

I would highly recommend this bar to anyone in the area, or walkers / cyclists passing through.
