We went to the Buttercup Tearoom to celebrate our friend's 80th birthday and all three of us had a thoroughly enjoyable time munching our way through the amazing amount of food we were given as part of our afternoon tea. We really loved the savoury elements of the tea.
All the food we had was very nicely presented... it was excellent value for money... we couldn't finish it all but that wasn't a problem, as we were given bags to bring the remaining cakes home in.
The canapes were tasty, the watercress soup excellent!, the sandwich fillings very good.. we really liked the cheese and caramalised onion, the pork with mango chutney and tomato with basil pesto. Nice to have a change from the predictable fillings you tend to get with afternoon teas. The bread was lovely and fresh.
The warm scone with clotted cream and jam melted in the mouth... the cakes we ate.. the fairy cake with strawberry and cream on top.. so light! the blueberry mini mille feuille lovely too! The others will have to wait until tomorrow to be sampled but they look good!
We were given as much tea as we wanted and all the staff were very friendly and cheerful.
We can't wait to go back to The Buttercup Tearoom!
