“Delicious from start to finish - super variation on afternoon tea!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

We went to the Buttercup Tearoom to celebrate our friend's 80th birthday and all three of us had a thoroughly enjoyable time munching our way through the amazing amount of food we were given as part of our afternoon tea. We really loved the savoury elements of the tea.

All the food we had was very nicely presented... it was excellent value for money... we couldn't finish it all but that wasn't a problem, as we were given bags to bring the remaining cakes home in.

The canapes were tasty, the watercress soup excellent!, the sandwich fillings very good.. we really liked the cheese and caramalised onion, the pork with mango chutney and tomato with basil pesto. Nice to have a change from the predictable fillings you tend to get with afternoon teas. The bread was lovely and fresh.

The warm scone with clotted cream and jam melted in the mouth... the cakes we ate.. the fairy cake with strawberry and cream on top.. so light! the blueberry mini mille feuille lovely too! The others will have to wait until tomorrow to be sampled but they look good!

We were given as much tea as we wanted and all the staff were very friendly and cheerful.

We can't wait to go back to The Buttercup Tearoom!

“Fabulous Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

I have just returned from a wonderful afternoon at the Buttercup Tearooms. I was part of a group of nine having afternoon tea. The food was delicious, plentiful and all homemade. The setting was delightful - a beautiful airy room with gorgeous decorations. The table was set with beautiful china, and vases of fresh flowers. The tea flowed along with the conversation, as we eagerly awaited each delicious course, and nothing disappointed. One of our group had asked for a gluten-free meal to be provided, and was very happy with the choices. At £18 per head, it was great value for money - we couldn't manage all the cakes and brought them home with us! I will definitely be returning.

“An afternoon tea with a twist...”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We visited on Monday for a special birthday.
Our table was beutifully laid out.
We started with a mini prawn cocktail, followed by canapés, a mini serving of soup, sandwiches, scones and cakes. All home made.
There was far too much but that wasn't a problem as we took the rest home worth us.
There was copious amount of tea and water. The coffee was delicious too.
They also provided, free of charge, a cake for the birthday girl.
My only disappointment is that they don't accept credit or debit cards

“Lovely Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We were a group of 7 celebrating my sisters 50th birthday! I have visited The Buttercup Tearoom many times since it opened for tea and cake or for lunch but never for afternoon tea. I must say we were not disappointed. The food selection was lovely and very well paced, the free flow tea was a nice touch and the box to take home some of the cakes was much appreciated. The roses in the tall glasses looked absolutely lovely. All in all, a wonderful afternoon in a lovely setting with delicious food. I would recommend without hesitation!
