Ate a late Sunday lunch here and was very impressed. Food was delicious and the staff very helpful and friendly. A really nice atmosphere in the bar too. Will certainly call in again if we are out in this area. Food was also sensibly priced which is nice to see.

The Nags Head is our local pub and we eat there regularly. The fish is excellent and the staff are always polite and helpful. I would recommend this pub for the food and you can go a long way to find fish as good as this.

We booked a table for sunday dinner for a large group(13), we were advised that due to local flooding the restaurant area would be closed but they would seat us in the bar area and it may be a bit tight but this didn't put us off as we had heard such great things about the food. None of this mattered as the service & food were above and beyond anything we could've asked for, nothing is too much trouble and everything was seen to with a smile, we loved it here!! AND THE FOOD!!!!!!! its was amazing, everyone ordered different starters, mains and desserts, and all of it was superb, outstanding!! the fresh fish was beautifully cooked, the roast dinners were perfectly sized and you can see they are genuinley homemade. This is the kind of place you will return to again & again.....well done guys, you made my mum's birthday an absolute treat!

Driving around the byways on a lovely bright, sunny afternoon in the Herts/Essex border area is a lovely way to spend a winter Sunday afternoon.
All of the villages are beautifully kept, with a varied housing stock running from, in many cases, the fifteenth century until the present day - and most of them still have at least one pub.

Little Hadham is one of several "Hadhams' and might be considered a quintessential English village: a stream runs through the middle, with a ford, which has clearly been there for centuries.

The Nag's Head is opposite the ford and has been at the heart of the village since 1595. This is clearly a wealthy area, with a good regular trade. There are 2 restaurant areas and a bar area.
We arrived at 1.30pm on a Sunday & the place was very buzzy, with regulars sitting drinking at the bar. Tables comprised people of all ages from small children to elderly people.

We were given a warm welcome from the landlord, who created a table with no fuss for us. As we both wanted a traditional Sunday roast, we were offered the choice of beef, lamb or turkey. Drinks were served exactly as we asked (no ice for my mother) and lunch was not long in arriving. We both had turkey , which was well presented & was absolutely delicious: just like home cooked. Everything tasted very fresh & hot;the turkey moist & all breast meat, the yorkshire pudding & roast potatoes crisp & cooked perfectly. The selection of fresh vegetables which arrived was quite acceptable, although the portion size was less generous than that of the meat. More gravy arrived on request.
The pub continued to fill up with people, the atmosphere was friendly & positive, with 'mine host' working hard all of the time. Service was efficient & friendly and I enjoyed reading a back number of Country Life from a small library of books and magazines available.
My only sour note was that, just as we were finishing lunch and without saying anything at all, the publican switched on the TV for the afternoon's football - and it was placed right above my head, with the sound on!
I found this immensely rude, especially as no-one was actually watching it: had the licensee explained that this would happen, I would have chosen another table - but this was the only sour note in a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday lunch; I would definitely go back
