This hotel is absolutely beautiful, the room was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. The grounds are lovely and well worth a walk round. Food was excellent and GLUTEN-FREE options were available. Can't wait to return to this hotel again!

This is a bit of an odd place really. On the outside it has attractive, features with mature gardens. The inside of the main house has some nice rooms and decor, but overall it is a bit of a mess, with bits bolted on to the main building that just don't look right.

It certainly doesn't manage to pull off country house hotel. For example, the shocking pink outfits on the receptionists set a bit of a 'cheap' tone.

The annex room we stayed in would not have passed muster as student accommodation.

The bathroom had seen better days and the shower was a pitiful trickle, but at least it was clean.

The room itself was far too small and was clearly meant for one person (a hangover from its conference centre beginnings). The room was dusty, including even the pencil, which had a thick layer on it that must have collected over at least a week. It was also too warm and too noisy, with revellers shouting and swearing till 4 or 5 in the morning.

And therein lies the problem. This is a wedding/function venue for those who don't know any better. It is not a romantic venue so do not come here as a couple, expecting a quiet getaway, at least not at the weekends.

Breakfast the first day was a reasonable affair, but nothing special. The second day was like feeding time at the zoo. No cleaned or set seating, kids running everywhere, cackling laughter, hacking coughs, unsuitable sportswear and a stream of smokers pouring in and out of the patio doors. Very young, serving staff did their best, but came over as if they were there on work experience.

On the subject of smokers, having to walk through a group of bathrobe-clad women, huddled out of the drizzle, in the main doorway, also added to the poor impression.

What am I really trying to say? Let's be frank, it is a bit cheap, but not everyone will notice.

As for the platitudes written by the manager in response to other poor reviews, please don't bother. You have a business model and there's
No shame in that. If you can find people willing to pay up, great. Find your level and go for it.

However if you were honest you would stop pretending that this hotel is something it isn't and stop charging over the odds. Somewhere as basic as Premier Inn is doing accommodation so much better.

I stayed here for a work do and loved the place. Lovely mansion with beautiful grounds. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and varied. We had a great time in the Karaoke Klub. I liked how tea and coffee are available at little hubs all day,and they have sweet-shop style containers of sweets to help yourself to. Only downside is rooms are small and basic, no air conditioning (in mine anyway) and shower wasn't brilliant.

The setting itself looked lovely however the organisation of the karaoke klub was a disaster. We had food missing from order, drinks that we had pre-ordered that weren't in the fridge, the wii console was broken, the microphones were working intermittently and the air con didn't work, so overall I am not happy and would not recommend it to anyone.

We stayed last week, we checked into the Bridal Suite for a couple of nights and it is the most amazing room there! Huge room, with views over the grounds, views as far as you can see without a house in sight, just fields and trees beyond the amazing gardens which are grade II listed and lovingly looked after. The bridal suite huge four poster, big desk, sofa, big table in the centre and awesome fireplace............the traditional splendour of the room is offset by the recently refurbished (to a superb standard) new black and white marble bathroom (the floor is beautiful). A long soak in the bath while catching Wimbledon in surround sound and the tv sunk into the wall at the end of the bath was delightful. Fanhams! Your staff, facilities, superb standards and rooms make us so very happy. We keep coming back!

Room Tip: ask for the wet rooms/showers with the jets from many angles! The suites are beautiful! The room w...

I booked a picnic for my friends birthday and on arriving at the hotel it had started to rain, I was thinking we were going to end up indoors but the girls showed us outside and then also offered indoors if the rain got too heavy, We found a little gazebo in the grounds and checked it was ok to use it and all was fine, what a perfect afternoon we had!!! food was amazing you couldn't of asked for any better!! I recommend the picnics so much!! we stayed there from 12.30 till 5.30 and then walked round the grounds in the rain, The head gardener/groundsman steven was so very helpful and bought us both deckchairs and was so very helpful!!! we will be returning again!!!!

We were at the hotel for a wedding and stayed the night - the food was first class and they used quality products. The check in staff and waitresses were great and very helpful. The grounds and hotel were superb and worth a visit on their own. What a venue for a Wedding! We slept well and the room was of a high standard. As for the breakfast yet again the food was of a high standard the only slight grumble was the queues for the 1 coffee machine they could do with another in the breakfast room. I can't really fault it.
