The hotel and it's rooms look a bit dated; The bar and restaurant are small (and look dated as well), but this is a charm for this hotel. New Luce is a village inhabited by mosty elderly people, so this hotel looking modern would be inimaginable.

When we were there some locals were in the bar and we had a plesant evening with them as their hospitality is great. After some nice pints, and a lovely (almost nostalgic) meal we went off to bed for a pleasant night of sleep. Breakfast is good as well, nothing to be commented on that.

Stayed one night near the start od our Souhtern Upland Way walk. Despite the fact we did not have a reservation and arrvied just after lunch closing time (i.e., 2PM) we were given a room and offered lunch. The room was comfortable (if a bit cold), there was plenty of hot water and the room was clean and quiet. The food was good pub fare, a real ale (in execllent condition) was on offer and both the staff and local patrons were welcoming. We were even offered the pub's guitar to play.... Woud not hesitate to recommend this establishment and its new owners. Just make sure to check the hours of opening in advance.

It's going to be a pleasure writing this review!

But where to start?? At the beginning, I suppose. A friend and I arrived on our motorbikes in the beautiful little village of New Luce. We were met with smiling hosts, Paul and Alison who immediately showed us the best place to park up and offered to show us our rooms but we'd heard the chatter from the bar and decided to have a pint. The bar offered two excellent real ales (Paul is quite obviously a proud conissueur!) together with various other beers and lagers the locals were pleased to see us and we felt like we fitted into this small community immediately. After a few pints (too good for just one!) we were shown to our well-sized, spotless rooms with sparkling bathroom and excellent decor. A quick shower (plenty of hot water and powerful!) and we were downstairs where we were introduced to Helen and Josh who also are part of this family-run gem of a hotel!. Now to the evening meal.....it was perfect. And we weren't the only ones to enjoy the freshly cooked food....quite a few of the locals from this very small village were dining too - always a good sign. A couple more pints of the excellent beer and it was time to retire. After an excellent night's sleep (in silence!) it was time for breakfast- which was the best I've had in as long as i can remember. A large selection of fruit and cereals (I even think I spotted some fresh figs!) and the hot breakfast had free range eggs and high quality bacon and sausage...it really set us up for the day of exploring the area (beautiful doesn't do it justice!) before returninmg to enjoy another great meal and a chat with the locals and other visitors - and a few more samples of the excellent real ale of course!. If only we could have stayed longer!!!

Only a few minutes drive off the main A75 route lies the pretty village of New Luce, and within it, the Kenmuir Arms.
We received a warm friendly welcome from our hosts at the start of our two night stay during which both the food & accommodation were excellent. Not to mention the real ales on offer!
Whether it's walking, fishing, cycling or just enjoying the amazing scenery, The Kenmuir Arms is an excellent base for exploring all that Dumfries & Galloway has to offer, especially the Mull area.
The new owners seem to be doing a fabulous job of accommodating guests from all parts whilst wooing the locals with their charm.
Looking forward to our next visit already.

We had an overnight stay at the Kenmuir Arms Hotel and really enjoyed it. The new owners were very welcoming, the food and drinks were excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. Relaxing atmosphere in the bar on a Friday night and enjoyed the banter with the regulars. A lovely tranquil area to visit. Will definitely go again.
