We stayed here at the start of march, just at the end of carnival so availability of accommodation was limited.

The place is set back from the main pier up an extremely steep hill, at least a 10 min walk, and is more into the rainforest, which brings humidity and lots and lots of mosquitoes and insects. Take plenty of repellent I got 10 bites alone on the day we arrived.

Rooms- You get what it says on the tin, the rooms are v basic, bed shelf unit and small fridge. some with aircon and some with ceiling fans, we had a room looking onto the garden and it would have been fine if the fan wasn't so noisy and they gave you mosquito nets, plus the bed was a very small double and the mattress was very thin. The combination made sleeping difficult. Although the place was clean and the sheets white and clean.

Breakfast was okay, small choice mainly of bread cheese meat and cakes, but the host was very helpful and tried to assist anyway he could.
The internet only works in the area close to reception , and sometimes not even there.

Also the place has around 7/8 cats that live there, they don't bother you and keep out the
way.

Overall the Island for us was a bit of a let down, it's a tourist rat run, with expensive food and drink. The only things to do are visit beaches and drink. Also the island as a whole seems to have an issue with cats and dogs- it's full of them.

A very nice clean place with a good breakfast. Behind the pousada is a small river.
Great place to chill. 10 min walk down to the beach.
We were not allowed to use the kitchen.
All in all a plce i can recommend, you wont be disapointed!

We stayed here as part of a tour. Up a steep hill - it must almost me the highest accommodation on the island. The room was large and we had a hot shower, Others staying there commented that they never had a hot shower. The place is really quaint with a great outdoor breakfast/meeting area.

Abrao is a small village on Ilha Grande and consists mainly of pousadas and restaurants, without any big hotels whatsoever.

Pousada Cachoeira is a great selection

Pros
- good free breakfast
- great value
- adequately sized rooms with a small fridge
- location : within Abrao (5-7 minute walk to the docks) yet still slightly detached from all the restaurants and crowds

Cons
- pillows could definitely be better

Make sure you're ok with cats, as there are 3-4 cats that live ok the property and are not shy of humans!

We never got to stay in this Pousada.
We made reservation via telephone which was confirmed by the person we spoke to - who would charge the first night on the credit card number that we gave him.
Although we had a reservation confirmed with credit card, our reservation was cancelled last minute, leaving us without hotel for the next day.
That was really annoying and is not really professional. If there is any doubt regarding a room being available, it could at least be mentioned.
