“Friendly and tranquil stay in paradise”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

We would recommend staying here. The owners were really friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious. The surroundings were beautiful and quiet. Monkeys came to visit us one morning at breakfast and Rodrigo instructed us on how to feed them. The only cons are that there was no hot water and the rooms were lacking in storage, but a small price to pay for the tranquility and warmth of the place. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed 4 days at Pousade Ouro Verde and we had a wonderful holiday!
Rodrigo and his family were very helpful finding the best trips for us, and they were very good at listening to what we would like to do. Wonderful people! Every morning they served us home made breakfast - and the monkeys joined us at about 9 every day :-)
We give Pousade Ouro Verde our best recommendation - and would love to come back one day!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. It's about a 10 minute walk from the town centre into the jungle. Don't be put off by the walk - the location is cooler and quieter for it, but take a head-torch at night to a avoid stepping on dogs and their poop...and mosquito spray for the evenings.

Great room - spacious, with en suite and clean towels...if a little sign heavy.

Breakfast - best we've experienced in a year of travels...cake...more cakes..homemade jams, caramel sauce, breads, hams, cheeses, fresh juice, coffee...and more. It is such an exceptional effort and alone, justifies the stay here. There are lots of creepy crawlies, but it is the jungle and they are totally harmless. Better still, hummingbirds hover around surrounding trees and flowers, they're such a delight.

Rita and Rodrigo are geared up to understanding guests needs. Information is readily available...with photographs, suggested routes, local tips and dos and don'ts. I wouldn't book anything without gaining Rodrigo's advice first.

Outstanding hosts, great rooms, a little treasure set away from the buzz and mania of town. Not cheap in the scheme of travelling, but reasonable relative to island prices - would definitely recommend to others.

We stayed here back in November and can't recommend it highly enough. Rita and Rodrigo were such warm, friendly, genuinely interested and genuinely interesting hosts! Each morning we were greeted with a different, delicious homemade breakfast and stories and advice from Rodrigo.

We really felt we got a different and very personal experience on Ilha Grande as a result of our stay here!

The rooms were lovely, with a lovely hammock outside to chill on and listen to the birds, monkeys and stream running nearby in the evenings. The little trek uphill is worth it as you get much closer to nature than you would in town!

We stayed for 6 nights in January and loved it! First of all, Rita & Rodrigo are best hosts EVER! From day 1, they made us feel very welcome. Every morning, we could not wait to go to breakfast as Rodrigo would tell stories about the island and help us plan our day's activity, while we enjoyed the amazing homemade breakfast buffet. If we would have any questions later during the day or evening, we could just ring the bell outside their house and Rodrigo would pop out in no time to assist us. On our last morning, we could nog resist to take a picture together with Rodrigo as a souvenir of our amazing stay!

We had a wonderful time whilst staying with Rita and Rodrigo. As soon as we arrived we felt welcome and at home. The house is a very short walk away from the main streets, but far enough away to be quiet, relaxed and surrounded by beautiful scenery and nature. 3 of us shared one room which was very comfortable, and there was a nice bathroom.

As other people have commented, the breakfast was great - lots of cake, home-made jams, bread, fruit, juices, tea and coffee. Humming birds and monkeys also joined us for breakfast!

Rodrigo and Rita gave us excellent advise about what to do on the island - everything from walks, where to eat and places to visit. The island itself is beautiful. We felt like we were in paradise! We enjoyed walks through the rainforest, visited the most beautiful beaches and ate some great food.

I'd really recommend visiting this pousada and hope to visit it again in the future. Thank you Rita and Rodrigo.

We had a wonderful time at Pousada Ouro Verde. Rodrigo and Rita are such fantastic hosts- always going above and beyond to ensure that you are getting the most from your stay. From tips every morning on where to go/how to get there, recommendations about local restaurants/bars and even pointers for other destinations within Brazil, they really do go out of their way to help. Their English is faultless and they also speak Spanish and French (and possibly other languages that I don't know about!) which makes it very easy for all their guests to chat with them and get the tips and advice they need.

The pousada itself is lovely, spotless rooms with everything you need for a relaxing stay. As for the breakfast - this really was something that we looked forward to everyday! An array of amazing homemade cakes, breads, jams, pancakes and juices, as well as fruits, cereals etc. Everything was SO delicious - we particularly loved the passion fruit jam ;-)

If you want a laid back, homely pousada in a good location with wonderful hosts and delicious food, then this is definitely the place for you!
