“Peaceful Home Away From Home!!!”
Reviewed 27 January 2014

Arco Iris is truly a Home away from Home. The Hosts Bennita and Ganesh with their Daughters Trusha andTrikaya along with their Pet Labrador Feni all take care of You with genuine warmth and One gets the feeling to be a part of their family.

This January 2014 was my third trip to Arco Iris. I Love the tranquility and the peaceful ambience around Arco Iris.

Located in South Goa in the midst of nature and pure fresh air to breathe, Arco Iris is a perfect getaway to relax, rejuvenate and recharge one's senses.

The rooms are spacious, clean and the Domestic Help are very courteous and sincere. One is served authentic goan cuisine with soothing music playing in the background.

Thank You Bennita and Ganesh for welcoming me again into your beautiful home.

Cheers and Best,

Manu Kumar Lal

We had a family get-together at Arco Iris and all of us cousins and our assorted children had a marvellous time. The stay was an amazing experience, it is a part of Goa that we will cherish in our hearts.

Room Tip: All the rooms are large and well-ventilated. Choose any room, you won't be disappointed.

Definitely one of the best stays I've had in my nomadic life of 3 years so far. The stay was for 2 nights - enjoyed every moment of it. The ambiance and the warmth of the people who work here and the hospitality by Benni was "feel home". Truly a stress buster stay! Very tastefully done rooms and beautiful surroundings. And great food - me and my friends used to enjoy the breakfasts!! I hope to get here again with my folks sometime and also recommend it to my family and friends who visit Goa often.

After arriving here we realized we know so little about a place that we visit at least thrice a year. This property reeks of a bygone era and shares you so many stories with you each day. be it the architecture, furniture, mosaic work or room decor. it is an excellent place to stay and soak in the real flavours of Goa. a must stay for all my friends, especially during monsoon when beach activities are anyways risky for families and children.

Always felt Goa was about beaches until we entered Beni and Gani's beautiful home in Curtorim. The property is lovely and green. Situated opposite a lake, makes it ideal for long and leisurely walks. The rooms in the house are large and spacious, with comfortable easy chairs placed outside the rooms facing the greens of the courtyard. Beni recommended a lovely Goan-Portuguese restaurant where we eat some fantastic Goan vegetarian dishes. Loved our stay here and will definitely visit soon.

ArcoIris, the beautiful house of Beni, Gani, Trikaya, Trusha and Feni ( or as my two year old calls them tusha and cheni). Ever since we welcomed our daughter into our lives, holiday and vacations need a little more planning and if you are an indulgent mom like me you do a little more research. Thanks to all the great review on this site, we zeroed in on Arco and what a great decision that was.
Arco itself is the residence of Beni and family. So you really are not staying in a sanitized, carpet floored place with room service. That does not mean you dont get the frills of a hotel. You get all the advatange of a hotel without having to worry about the mess your toddler may make. To appreciate the value of a home stay one really needs to holiday with a child. The kitchen is always available for you to rustle up something or the lovely chef will make something that you ask. Ask Beni, she will guide to little known restaurants or cafes that only locals know and you will come back asking for more. Endless cups of tea, reading on the hammock, and dare I forgot the lovely dog Feni...Arco is just the place for a lazy laid back holiday.
The most attractive part for me was the fact that my two year old completely loved the holiday. She was so fascinated to be able to touch a dog, stroke him, pet him and just couldn't get enough of him. The lovely Trikaya is an awesome baby sitter...she spent so many days playing patiently with my little one, be it coloring or play dough...she was always there to spend time with her. This was a welcome surprise for us to just sit back and watch the little one enjoy. Oh how she misses her Trikaya akka.
My daughter could run around as she pleased and enjoy the company of everyone in the house. Not soemthing you can do even in a posh multi starred hotel. wish we could have stayed longer.
Ask Beni for the lovely wine that she has inhouse. Dont go overboard, it does a fine job of intooxicating you.
When at arco, dont forget to ask the cook for ginger tea and her spicy masala omelette and do spend time reading some books from the extensive collection of the couple. If you are good, Beni may indulge with some lovely local fruit cake ( I know I couldn't eat enough of it)
Well I could go on and on, staying at ArcoIris is something that one cannot completely describe in words, its an experience to be cherished.
So go ahead take that holiday and come back completely relaxed!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Arco Iris means “Rainbow” in Portuguese, and was built on a sprawling, 1.5 acre terraced property which overlooks a seasonal lake. This supplements the water requirements of the surrounding paddy fields. The proximity to the lake and the Zuari, the abundant greenery in and around the property, ensure a picturesque Goan setting throughout the year. The house itself is styled along colonial Portuguese lines with a high plinth, imposing columns, high ceilings and offers excellent natural ventilation throughout the year. It has been restored, true to its heritage and without compromising the modern day amenities that have come to be associated with the changes in lifestyle since the early 19th century.During the restoration process, all efforts were made to preserve the original materials which had originally gone into the construction of the house by using them, at times, for alternate purposes. The end result is a house which reflects a judicious and tasteful blend of the modern and the traditional. With a built up area of around 7,000 sq feet, the house comprises an “entrada” (foyer), “sala” (living room), dining room, four guest bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a fully equipped modern kitchen. Three of the bedrooms open onto private balconies. It also has a “balcao” (balcony) in front and a courtyard at the rear. The “balcao”, is the most social part of the house where any daily activity, be it catching up with neighbours, reading morning newspapers, eating , or just plain lazing can be enjoyed. The “sala” or the high ceilinged living room is reserved for formally receiving and entertaining visitors. The dining room is dominated by the dining table which can comfortably seat 8. All bedrooms have been suitably modified to accommodate attached bathrooms with modern amenities. The bedroom colours have been chosen keeping in mind the colours of the rainbow. There is plenty of space to read in the lounges, the dining room, or outdoors in the verandah. ... more   less
