Traveling is a lot about meeting people and making friends; something which I believe tourism is not about. For the money paid, don't expect 5-star service or its opulence. This is strictly a home stay; and it gives what its supposed to - memories for a lifetime. Beni and Ganesh have done this place up very tastefully maintaining the original Portugese architecture but bringing in some local and South Indian influence as well (Thanks to Ganesh). Two very sweet girls (Trusha and Trikaya) playing around with Feni and Boxer (both Labradors), a large park outside the house, the villa nestled between farms in Curtorim makes it the ideal setting for families and couples. A jog in the morning in village might also be just what the doctor ordered! This place is not close to the beaches, all the better because its away from all the noise and commotion. Beni can help you out with local sightseeing and car/bike rentals.

Room Tip: There are three rooms in the ground floor and one on the first floor. Indigo room on the first floor...

This is the 4th time i have stayed with the Ganesh's @ Arco Iris. I am a stalker who has been following Arco Iris since even its restoration and have witnessed all the hardwork, passion and dedication of the entire family. Bennita's zest and passion for putting together the most tasteful decor and keeping it eco friendly , warm and comfortable for their guests is visible and consistent every time i visit and experience it first hand.
Trusha, Trikaya, and Feni are as usual very friendly loving and delightful.
This time too my holiday was peaceful, lazy and pampered..:-)
I would recommend anyone going to goa to try south goa, Arco Iris for the actual GOAN feel and experience.
cheers!

Room Tip: Try one every time as they are all unique. But for the first time ask for the attic room ;-) Its coo...

This was worth all the research I had put in for locating a homestay.

Usually there’s always 4 different viewpoints in a family of 4….but this time none. My wife, daughter and our Spaniel puppy absolutely enjoyed the warm homely hospitality of Beni, Ganesh, Trikaya, Trusha and Feni the Lab. The staff were very warm and friendly and the Goan food was superb… I keep travelling to Goa on work, but this food was different and homely! We loved our stay for three nights, actually woke up every morning to a tenacious cock-a-doodle-do in the neighbourhood, and know that we’ll be back!!

As already elaborated by everyone before, the charm of this place is the sight and smell of country-side, the warmth of your host-family and all the Goan-Portugese flavour in the details. Also, it is technologically complete and up to date for the traveller. Just great if you’re travelling with your pet…seeing him happy and making friends made our drive from Bangalore to Goa a double-delight!

Serene, peaceful and chilled out rural setting and a very enticing and a quiet homestay with modern amenities, cool getaway from busy schedules. Time stops here! Township and famous beaches and the chatter are just that much away so that you know they’re just over there when you crave for and not when you want to just meet yourself or be with family. Ask Beni for those secret beaches!

We’d been there February, 2014. It was pleasant, weather-wise. Would love to laze around and soak in the seasons especially in winter or monsoon. Recommend to everyone.

Room Tip: Talk to your host, frankly.

We wanted to have a good mixture of fun and tranquility on our 2nd wedding anniversary, so we chose Goa as the destination for this trip. After much research, we decided to stay at Arco Iris. We have always swayed towards homestays for the unique experiences they offer. Arco Iris proved to be the right choice. Beautiful house with flowers and plants all around; nicely done up with well-lit interiors, quaint pieces of art, and lots of books to read, even Tinkle! And there was music always playing in the background to add to the atmosphere. Benita and Ganesh are such wonderful hosts, always more than happy to help, with suggestions on restaurants and places to visit... The staff members are also very pleasant; they always treated us with a smile. And Feni! Feni, the true Goan doggie, welcomed us with a bark and she is such a cutie who obliged us with pics as and when we wanted.
We will come back Benita and Ganesh. Places like these are a rarity. We got total privacy and the atmosphere of a home away from home. We need such places to get away from the mad pace of city life, to live a beautiful life! Just what the doctor would order for the metro-dwellers!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Orange room and it is spacious and comfy with all the amenities we need. Believe me...

Arcoiris is a beautiful, amazing homestay which has been done artistically by Beni and Ganesh. We with our friend's family visited them in March 2014 and had a very pleasant and great stay. The hosts were too good. Our children had a great time by playing in the garden with Trikaya and Trusha at a point they refused to come to the beach and shopping. the lovely pet Feni was part of them,we all enjoyed playing with feni.It is a complete stay. You will never to get to see such a big lawn, backyard, rooms which is very well maintained . its better to stay in the beautiful arco iris with fresh air rather than staying in a hotel!!

Arco Iris, a 200 year old house so tastefully done up by Benni and Gani offers the ideal place for a chilled out vacation in Goa. The rooms are so tastefully and vibrantly done up. The hosts are so very warm. The lush greenery, blooming flowers and the sound of chirping birds in the property refresh your soul and body. Benni’s adorable yellow lab, Feni is a total stress buster and a certified charmer even of those who do not like dogs. If you want to spice up your stay a bit, you can take a walk to the Zuari river bank, go for boating in the river, look up the churches in the vicinity, most which are nearly 400 years old. All in all, a lovely homestay!

Room Tip: All rooms are equally good! If you are confused, do inky-pinky-ponky!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Arco Iris means “Rainbow” in Portuguese, and was built on a sprawling, 1.5 acre terraced property which overlooks a seasonal lake. This supplements the water requirements of the surrounding paddy fields. The proximity to the lake and the Zuari, the abundant greenery in and around the property, ensure a picturesque Goan setting throughout the year. The house itself is styled along colonial Portuguese lines with a high plinth, imposing columns, high ceilings and offers excellent natural ventilation throughout the year. It has been restored, true to its heritage and without compromising the modern day amenities that have come to be associated with the changes in lifestyle since the early 19th century.During the restoration process, all efforts were made to preserve the original materials which had originally gone into the construction of the house by using them, at times, for alternate purposes. The end result is a house which reflects a judicious and tasteful blend of the modern and the traditional. With a built up area of around 7,000 sq feet, the house comprises an “entrada” (foyer), “sala” (living room), dining room, four guest bedrooms with attached bathrooms and a fully equipped modern kitchen. Three of the bedrooms open onto private balconies. It also has a “balcao” (balcony) in front and a courtyard at the rear. The “balcao”, is the most social part of the house where any daily activity, be it catching up with neighbours, reading morning newspapers, eating , or just plain lazing can be enjoyed. The “sala” or the high ceilinged living room is reserved for formally receiving and entertaining visitors. The dining room is dominated by the dining table which can comfortably seat 8. All bedrooms have been suitably modified to accommodate attached bathrooms with modern amenities. The bedroom colours have been chosen keeping in mind the colours of the rainbow. There is plenty of space to read in the lounges, the dining room, or outdoors in the verandah. ... more   less
