“Rosemary's Memorial”

All Saints Anglican Church
Reviewed 2 July 2012

Set on the banks of the Swan River in Henley Brook, was the place chosen by my dear friend Rosemary who passed away with breast cancer, for her memorial . The church is tiny, the first in Western Australia and was overflowing with friends and family. A lovely location with many graves of WA's founding fathers.

All Saints Church in Henley Brook is a must to visit when touring the Swan Valley. Tucked away in Henry Street (a small lane like continuation of Gnangara Rd as you drive over West Swan Rd), is a beautiful old church set along the Swan Valley. A coin operated audio information speaker tells of how the Church was built at the furtherest point that Capt Stirling's party ventured up the Swan River after colonising Perth. Pay your respects to pioneers and more recently former residents of the area in the quaint graveyard within the grounds of the church. It really is a fascinating and very peaceful stroll around. Admire the architecture of the little church and how it has stood the test of time and elements. Our family have often taken a quiet picnic lunch or afternoon tea and just sat and enjoyed this beautiful and peaceful place..

I love this little church on the banks of the Swan River. It has everything, history, architecture and beautiful surroundings. This is the highest point on the Swan River that Captain Stirling reached when surveying for the original colony. When visiting the wineries, breweries or restaurants in the Swan Valley make the time to have look at a genuine piece of WA history.
