From booking to leaving - the whole experience of The Old Bell Inn was excellent. The lady taking our booking was so pleasant and helpful, and on arrival we were greeted by an extremely efficient and helpful young man, who checked us in. Our room was in what appeared to be a new part of The Old Bell and it was beautiful, spotless and extremely relaxing with co-ordinating decor. The bed was very comfortable and our room extremely quiet. Breakfast was a very pleasurable experience, with an extensive choice and the food well presented. (We did not eat in the evening as we were going to a wedding, but the menu looked fabulous). The staff could not do enough for us and the service, given with a smile, was excellent. All in all, The Old Bell Inn is welcoming, friendly, efficient and spotlessly clean - we would highly recommend it.

I stay here regularly on business and haven't reviewed since the hotel as been extended and improved upon. This is a welcoming establishment in which as a lady travelling alone I'm made to feel very comfortable, the parking is onsite and well lit. At reception you are warmly greeted, the bar area to eat is comfortable or you can dine on the same menu in the newly refurbished classy restaurant, the food is exquisite, I ate with a business colleague with food intolerances and the staff seem well informed of which dishes on the menu where suitable for her. Breakfast is in the restaurant, good variety offered and freshly cooked to order (didn't wait long). I stayed in one of the new rooms which have been superbly done in the new extension (which has been done sympathetically to the original 18th century building) Free wifi throughout was a bonus. The local village is a 5 minute walk, it has a handful of pubs, shop, library and a little theatre, if you ask any of the staff they will advise you of things to do and see in the area. Very convenient from J22 off the M62. This hotel oozes with charm and character and I can't wait to return with my family rather than on business so I can stay longer and enjoy more of the scrumptious menu.

Room Tip: Call the hotel and tell them what you would prefer as a room as they are helpful

I stayed here in Sept 2013 for business, the wecome was friendly and helpful , check in was quick. My room was well appointed and comfortable, the heating was on, but easily turned down and although on the front of the hotel, I opened the window and there was little traffic noise

The restaurant and bar service mirrored my reception and the food was excellent, breakfast ditto.

Room Tip: A lot of stairs to the rooms

We stayed here two nights for a friends wedding in a neighbouring village. The room was lovely very clean only minus if you have difficulty with mobility was that it was up two flights of steep stairs. The real feature for us of this hotel was the standard of customer service, the staff appeared very young, however they could not do enough to please, were always smiling and helpful, they made us feel very welcome and we would certainly go again.

We 'stayed' in this hotel in late Sept. 2013. Check in was fine, went to our room, which was a standard double. On first glance it was clean and generally ok although the round beds are not great for tall people. Went down to dinner, which had very long wait times (45 mins) from ordering to food delivery even though the restaurant was not that crowded. The food finally came and was very good.

Went back up to the room. We noticed the heat had come on (which was not controlled in the room). It got hotter and hotter as the night went on but we couldn't open a window because the traffic noise was so loud already. By midnight we were all sweating profusely and my 2 year old had had enough. We left in the middle of the night and drove 2 hours back home. This noisy and super heated hotel is not worth the £110 they charge for rooms. I have never before left a hotel in the middle of the night, but it was needed with the old bell inn. Terrible!

My partner our 5 year old and I stayed here for just one night as we were at a local wedding and found it to be a great place with friendly people and staff.
the room was a family room No.15 right at the top and was large and very clean with nice shower.
would recommend this place to all.

Room Tip: No. 15 is great but you need to be mobile to clime the stairs
