We went to an Event Day at this museum and it was really lovely! The engine (which they were swtiching on every hour) was absolutely amazing. The museum is small but perfect. You can tell its being very well cared for by passionate enthusiasts, we were really pleasantly surprised - well worth a look! (Only downside on the day we went the cafe was chaos and they could cope at all, maybe it was a freak incident though?)

Having been an engineer in another life, I came across this place on the web and decided to include it on a day out. The museum is set in attractive grounds in an old water pumping station and carries a wide variety of engineering related memorabilia. There are several cut-away full size motorised exhibits, showing with excellent clarity just how they work, and lots of displays, including possibly the oldest still-working electric motor in the world!

There's a narrow gauge steam railway in the grounds, usually in steam at the weekends, and the whole project is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in engineering.
