We visited this mine on our way back home from Whitby to Scotland. It was well worth the stop. The staff (volunteers) are so friendly and willing to answer questions. After a short film giving the history we were then taken on a tour underground. I wont spoil it for you. Suffice to say that the children and I loved it. I would say it is unsuitable for pre-schoolers. We went on to have some 'good food' at the nearby village of Skinningrove. The old school converted for use as a community centre with cafe.
