Reviewed 14 April 2012

We were coming home from dog sledding. We were Starving but had no clue where to go or what to eat! We saw a sign for the Britt Inn and took a chance. We were warmly greeted by who we learned were relatively new owners, trying to revamp the Inn. We had absolutely delicious home made soup and a nice hot cup of coffee. We chatted with the owners who then gave us a tour of the Inn. Beautiful! We will be back for sure!!

On a recent weekend away at the Britt Inn, My husband and i had a wonderful stay.In our bright clean spacious room we had a view of the bay, which is very welcoming and apealing to us.The food they served was fantastic, starting from breakfeast to the on going free snacks on the lower deck bar. They made the best lamb shanks i have ever had, along wiith the stuffed baked salmon on a bed of rice. Dan and Nicole were very attentive to make sure that there inn meet all of our needs, as far as were concerned they way surpassed our expectations. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay in your beautiful inn.
Penny

Room Tip: Stay in the Lake side rooms, beautiful view

We have visited the Little Britt Inn many times as we have a cottage nearby. We had friends visiting for the weekend and have talked about the Inn many times, so they were excited to finally have an opportunity to see it for themselves...
Dan and Nicole had done an incredible job of refreshing the Inn, it feels warm and welcoming and that is where the good ends...
As we sat at our table and asked for a wine list a lady came to the table and said, I really hate this wine, but you may like it...it was red and other than that there was not a blend or type of wine on the label, so being good sports we tried it, aawwwwww, we should have listened to her recomendation, ha ha
The food was tasteless and prevously frozen, it was obvious there was not a "chef" in the kitchen, not one of us liked our meal and we are not fussy..my fish was fish sticks, the dressing on our salad out of a jar, the chicken was not cooked all the way through and on and on...we didn't complain and Dan was very friendly and obviously really wants their new business to be a success!
In order for a small, out of the way Inn to succeed it is word of mouth, great home cooked food, nothing frozen or out of a box, jar or can! Know your wines as it's us city folk that are happy to come by 1/2 dozen times a year and pay for a good bottle of wine, and know your clientele...
All of us said on the way back to the cottage, they need to bring someone in to show them how to make that business succesful, because our first impression was very negative and you certainly don't want that word getting around..
We will be back, everyone deserves a second chance so we are hoping for better!

I have been freinds with Dan since childhood and I know many people will think my opinion biased but I can honestly say that I was impressed with the work being done to bring The Britt Inn back to it glory that it must have had in its heyday..Knowing both Dan and Nicole and having been a guest at their home many times I would say they have found their calling !!! The food is great and and you will not walk away hungry the drinks are cold and the service we recieved was fast and attentive..the rooms are large and clean and you are made to feel like you are right at home !! With good fishing right out the front door we can not wait to return and look foward to visiting again soon

We hadn't been back at the Inn since Jim left and we were curious to see what it would be like. We weren't disappointed. The place is now in the hands of Dan and Nicole and they have refreshed it without loosing any of it's special charm. We received a warm greeting from Nicole and she was a gracious hostess all weekend. We were delighted to see that Veronica was still there, she's a real sweetheart. The food was simple and tasty and the portions, especially breakfast, were hearty. Our room was spotless and cozy and the bed was oh so comfy. The Inn has been a favourite place of ours for several years and we will definitely be going back. Jim left it in good hands.

For everyone reading this, the below reviews are now not valid, there is new management and they are wonderful. Fully revamped the Inn, bright fresh paint, clean, tidy, beautifully decorated.
It is now known as THE BRITT INN. Give them a chance and stop by! Grand opening to the full public is December 17th, 2011! Stop in for a meal, or simply drinks and appetizers to see the new renovations and to meet the wonderful new owners, Dan and Nicole.

It was a Monday and my Wife and I were heading home from the French River area, as we had done many times before, when we approached the billboard for The Little Britt Inn, as we had done many times before. However, this particular time, instead of continuing, we turned off hwy 69 and made our way to the village of Britt, and the Inn itself, with hopes held high for a truly great meal.

Unfortunately, unbeknownst to us, the main dining room was closed Mondays so we had no other choice than settling on the Lower Room, which was the only thing they had open. The Lower Room was very disappointing. It was simply a dark and dirty, dated and drab, clammy and dingy dungeon with a bar and a few tables....not to mention the hoards of flies that kept landing on us and our food.

It was obvious our waitress lacked experience but she was attentive and friendly, albeit a bit too talky for our liking. Especially when chatty Cathy kept talking to us even after our food arrived. Her lack of experience showed in spades when she told us that one of their specials that day was Lobster Chowder, and then ten minutes after we'd ordered it, she came back and informed us that she'd made an error and that it was actually a fish chowder not a lobster chowder. Aye Carumba! After all that we both figured on just ordering something safe and easy. I had the burger and fries and my wife ordered homemade ravioli.

The burger was pretty good but the french fries were totally raw inside. We were the only people in the entire restaurant and the chef screwed up the order by serving undercooked fries!! How does that even happen?! My wife's ravioli was the only saving grace. It was quite good. However, their prices were high, the same prices they'd use in the main dining room. The bill exceeded what I thought these meals were worth, especially when we're trapped in the unattractive downstairs cellar and when the chef is unable to cook a simple handful of french fries accordingly.

Perhaps, if we came back on another day, when the upstairs dining room was open we might have better luck. Or instead, we could keep on driving right past, the same as we'd done every time before and never go back again. I'd probably place a wager on the latter.
