We spent 12 nights at Thongtakian and i must say that we loved every moment of it. We will definately reccomend this resort to anyone looking for a peacefull stay. The best beach by far. No hawkers nice restaurant and massage therapists. Aalso Nat the receptionist did a splendid job of seeing to our needs. We wanted to hire a scooter but hers were all out, she made a couple cals and 20min later we had a nice shiny scooter for us to use for the remainder of our trip. She also called a couple tours for us and organized discounts on all of them.

The food was good and the breakfast was always fresh and abundant. There are no beach chairs but huge beach towels are available fresh every morning.

Laundry is taken care of at a nominal fee. The rooms are basic, spacious and clean.

I would not visit any other resort on this island except for Thongtakian.!!! The service was marvelous !!

The resort is 5min from Chaweng and walking distance from Lamai so no need to worry about the distance from any shops or beaches.

Thanks Again for the GREAT service Nat and Team.

Room Tip: Choose the bungalows they are separate with a nice porch.

I'm really surprised by all the bad reviews - I've stayed here twice in the past 10 days and enjoyed my stay both times. I first stayed in a superior room which was really big, nice and clean and had a balcony overlooking the pool. The second time I was booked into a seaside room but they upgraded me to a different bungalow as there'd been a problem with the aircon apparently. This was also nice, plenty of room, though the shower looked a little old but had great water pressure. The beds are a little hard but this is Thailand after all...

The breakfast is ok - decent amount of choice, not amazing but there's good coffee which is the main thing!

The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the beachside restaurant's food is good.

The beach is lovely - a small bay framed by trees, with white sand and lovely clean water. Although it's not deserted by any means it wasn't crowded and most importantly it was lovely and quiet - no music blaring out, no one trying to sell you anything. Fab. Plus I had a couple of really nice massages on the beach. Very relaxing!

If you want somewhere quiet to chill out and take it easy on Koh Samui (not known for its tranquillity!) then this is perfect.

We had a lovely stay at Thongtakian Resort with Nat.

We loved the location on Thongtakian Beach, also called Silver Beach. The beach is lovely and quiet but a cheap taxi or bus ride to the main beaches, shopping and restaurants. Not that we left the resort much as we were very happy with the beach and the facilities. It is a short walk to the North end of Lamai, but we got really hot.

Looking at other reviews it may not be the absolute fanciest resort but we had absolutely no problems with it, it's not 5 star but it's a solid 3 or 4. The rooms were very clean and tidy with a nice bed (but hard like most beds we had in Thailand) and a good bathroom with good water pressure etc.

We stayed in a beachfront room and then one of the semi-detatched rooms (I'm not sure what they called it sorry). The beachfront rooms were a bit more private as was the balcony, had views of the beach and were a bit smarter with tile rather than wooden floors etc. but we didn't really think the cheaper room was much different. Any rooms are less than a minute walk to the beach and the whole resort was nice and quiet.

Nat the manager was lovely and gave us very good advice, even about Bangkok! Some of the staff speak better English than others so there was always someone around if you had a particular question. The restaurant was right on the beach and even though it was Koh Samui resort prices it was still 1/4 of the price we would pay at home. The complementary breakfast was always good with great coffee.

Another thing we liked about Thongtakian was that it has a pool.

Thank you for a lovely stay Nat, we would love to come back again.

Room Tip: Beachfront rooms had a nicer fitout eg. tiles rather than wooden floors but on the whole not much different from the cheaper rooms. Whole resort is peaceful and close to the beach.

It is not a place you would like to stay. The manager of the resort is rude. He said he has upgraded our room to sea-view rooms, but none of his rooms are sea view. Then in that room the air conditioning was not working, we got electric current from the shower in the boathroom and when we complained he again upgraded us to the superior room, which was a decent room but the manager's attitude changed. All the more next day he didn give tea/coffee pouches and we didn ask considering his behaivour.

We also took bike from them for which the lady of the resort charged us extra as we were 1 hour late to return the same.

For me i would skip his resort if I go again to Koh Samui.

Thongtakian resort is located in between Chaweng and Lamai. Resort has a very basic facilities.
Rooms are small and bathrooms as ordinary as homes.
On top of that, resort doesn't have any room service to call. For smallest of the thing, one needs to go up to the reception.
Thought resort is quiet & peaceful and the low cost make up somewhat for the poor facilities.
