Stayed here on a last minute whim as they said Silver Beach was the best on the island
Hotel is comfortable and suited our needs of just having a bed to sleep in
Easy to get to Lamai and Chaweng from here
Scooters were cheap to hire
Breakfast not great at all but was fine
Beach is nice but no longers or umbrellas so you have to lie on very hot sand
Small restaurant on beach but didn't use it
Little shop at entrance where you can buy drinks but very limited supply of anything
Hotel was full so clearly good value for money

We always love to visit koh Samui! The first time we stayed in Thongtakian resort was over 10 years ago. The 2nd time was 6 years ago, and the last time was in March 2013.

We saw so many changes over the years at the resort, and its surrounding, but the hospitality of the owner and the staff has never changed, that we felt like we were at home.

If you're looking for a place with very good deals (best choice for long stay), this resort offers you with choices to meet all your needs.

We will go back to Thongtakian resort again, and again...

This is such a beautiful place and perfect if you want a few days of chillax. I had a beach front bungalow with a lovely big terrace set amidst tropical gardens and looking at the ocean. Lovely !
The restaurant is set on the beach and at night candles on the table, all very romantic but I couldn't read the menu. Service at the restaurant is poor although food is just OK, the portions are very small and they never think of changing a dirty tablecloth unless asked. I opted to discovering restaurants in the area only a few minutes walk from the resort that were much better. One place, Mama Blue, with bright red tablecloths, owned by a lovely Thai lady named Nee and assisted by her sister and brother were an absolute delight and made you feel so welcome. The food was great the service good, portions normal size and the wine only 99 B instead of 150 at the resort and a large glass. lol It was so friendly and lovely to eat there. Another place next door to the resort is called Baan Thai and their food is good and cocktails are 99 B instead of 170 B. Just a bit further along is another nice restaurant, friendly staff where you can choose your fish and have it barbecued. Reasonable prices.

The resort is absolutely charming but definitely needs some TLC. Poolside chair loungers (3 of them) are very distressed and have no pads for a littlle comfort. Wardrobe door fell off when I tried to open it. lol Simple cushions on the terrace chairs instead of looking at and sitting on velcro straps where they used to have a cushion, would be worth looking after. Silly things that have been neglected and so inexpensive to maintain that make a place look tired when a little effort would give it the face lift that we all need at some or another. lol

Apart from those minor details, it was very clean very comfortable and a lovely place to spend time for a few days.

Room Tip: I loved my bungalow, front beach, wonderful fews, perfect location. No. A1

At Chaweng Beach, hawker free. Nice hotel, quiet. Beautiful beach. Rather good restaurant situated on the beach. In the evening they have candlelights on the tables, looks very romantic though it is not easy to read the menu. Good massages (in a hut on the beach). They only allow beach towels on the beach, they provide you with one towel per person a day if you ask them.
For breakfast they serve the usual stuff, nothing special. Small swimming pool.
The hotel seems to be attractive for families with small children.

We visited silver or thong takien beach for a day trip it's a beautiful place with just a few beach cafes and resorts, we had lunch in the thongtakien resort and it was cheap and delicious, red and green curries great and it was very reasonable it was the busiest place out of all the beach side restaurants, probably because of value for money. Service was pretty slow snd the toilets weren't the best, but I'd still go back, in. Fact we returned the same day for sundowners and ice cream sundaes .. Lovely, definitely a good choice for this area.
