RUDE front of house. At every other place in Thailand, the staff have been helpful, smiling, accommodating etc. NOT here. Beyond rude!!
Added to this the room was dark, damp and smelly. The toilet blocked. The 'pool view' room overlooked someone's garage and cleaning area.
Please don't stay here unless you want to experience holiday hell.

Enjoyed my stay. Was a problem with the air con which was sorted quickly. Read about staff
not being friendly. I found it the contrary. All were very friendly and helpful.
I stayed in a garden bungalow and there was little noise

Room tip: A garden bungalow is a quiet location.

Lamai Inn have beach front rooms and additional rooms / chalets just on the otherside of the road. Check-in was fast and efficent mainly due to one of the front desk women who has good english. She informed us she has worked at Lamai Inn for over 10 years so she was able to offer a variety of suggestions on what to do in Samui, also helping us with motorbike rental, flights, day trips and restaurants.

The rooms are of good size, standard in decor and amenities but very clean and the surrounds werent noisy. Considering the location I thought the room rate at 1300 baht was ok and would recommend Lamai Inn to family & friends.

The room I had with a double bed was rather dark with no special taste. The bed was beautifully decorated though. The bathroom was more in the Thai style with a large shower with hot water and a western-type toilet. There was also a large cupboard and a small fridge providing water bottles for free and a TV set. For 1,000 B, off season, without breakfast, you can't ask for less around here. The swimming-pool was not too engaging. The water didn't look all that clean. But all in all, it was all right for just two nights.

Room tip: Maybe by paying extra money, you can get a better room.

Stayed in the Lamai Inn 99 for the second time having been here back in 2007. We came back mainly due to the location to the beach which is excellent. The beach in front of the hotel is clear of sun beds and is always kept beautifully.
The plus points with this hotel are the location, the lovely pool and the staff, from the maids to the restaurant staff they are all great.
The negatives are only a couple, the rooms we stayed in (we had a pair of garden bungalows) are quite small compared to others we have stayed in and the second point is the lack of breakfast.
Normally I wouldnt mind as you can pick up a bite locally for not much money but its a bit of a walk to find somewhere open early in the morning. When you add in to the cost of the room the cost also for the breakfasts it gets a bit pricey.
We paid 1300 for each room then about 500 per room for breakfast, so maybe a false economy looking at the room only being 1300.
having said all that we had a great stay and would recommend it on its location alone, everything else is a bonus.
