“Great value & location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2014

Based on everything I had read pre-arrival, I was convinced the location was good but had doubts about what to expect from the hotel. As it turned out any concerns were groundless and we really enjoyed our 5 nights at the Lamai Inn. We booked one of the 4 rooms right on the beach front (room 53) and it was worth every penny of the small additional cost. We were genuinely surprised with the size of the bedroom and bathroom and the range of in room facilities - including tea & coffee making facilities, safe, good quality free wifi, complimentary water, hair dryer etc. These rooms have the additional benefit of a private shaded terrace with good quality, private sun loungers which is a real bonus as the hotel does not provide loungers on the beach. There are plenty of free loungers available at the adjacent restaurants and bars. Great wave noise at night too which is a real treat when drifting off to sleep. A decent breakfast was included, served overlooking the beach by a very helpful and pleasant team of young people. There are plenty of local bars & restaurants on the beach and we particularly enjoyed the food and service at Bamboo which is literally a few footsteps away. The bars, restaurants and food market of Lamai are just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel which provides a nice contrast to the beach area. All in all we really enjoyed our visit and pound for pound the hotel provided excellent value for money.

Room Tip: The closer to the beach you are the more pleasant the experience. Pay a little more and you won'...

I had a pool view room which was smallish but comfortable. My only complaint was it could be a bit noisy in the mornings and the walls were thin. The hotel was well laid out and on the beach, though no sun loungers. It is also very close to the night life, just a couple of minutes away from the boxing ring. Reception were very efficient and helpful. The internet is free and very good. The staff were always smiling and would always acknowledge you. All in all a good value hotel.

Room Tip: Pay a little more if you want peace and quiet in the mornings and don't go for a Pool View room.

The standard room is not very nice and the reception guys are not very helpful. The hotel pictures don't show the reality. You find much better hotels for this price!
At the beach are many tourists and indiscripable many beach sellers. If you can and are a backpacker stay away.

Lamai Inn 99 is great value for money, considerably less expensive the other hotels along the beachfront in Lamai. I had a very comfortable poolside room, with its own balcony. The pool was cool and clean, and so refreshing in the middle of a hot day. The hotel has a limited number of rooms right on the beach itself, and the property is divided by a narrow, and not very busy, road. Most of the rooms are away from the beach on the other side of the road, as mine was. Still, I could walk to the beach in about two minutes. The free breakfast was ordered off a menu, and included western and Thai choices.

The staff were friendly and helpful, except for one rather rude guy at the front desk, and there was an all-night security guard on duty to watch the property. All the shops, spas, restaurants and bars are just a short 5-10 minute walk away up on the main road. The only downside was that at night, the disco, which was a good 500 meters away, had its music turned up so loud that I could actually feel the base thumping in my room. This continued most nights until almost 4am, but would no doubt affect most of Lamai Beach hotels.

I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Next time I go, I will book one of the "Deluxe Sea View" rooms, as their front door litera...

We have just returned from 2 weeks. It did not match up to expectations as advertised, or the majority of reviews. It is very difficult to give a poor review as the good bits are great but unfortunatly there were just not enough of them to sway this review. The main clientelle appeared to be from eastern europe on week 1 and Germany on week 2. A lot of men seeking local female company. Very few english speaking people there, but this could be just timing. I'll break it down.
LOCATION: To the beach it is fantastic, couldn't be better. To the main strip of shops, bars and clubs, very close which has its positives and negatives, mainly negatives as there are 2 clubs within 100metres and they bang out music til 6.30am. I know this, not from going but from listening to them every bloody night from my room. there is aslo a relatively busy road running through the complex, which has traffic going all the time, very noisy sometimes not only with trucks, cars or scooters but also people walking (shouting) from swing bar to mains strip bars.
ACCOMODATION: We had a 'Deluxe pool view room'.. The decor was lovely and were impressed when we walked into room with space and towel arrangement on bed (fanatastic). The bathroom was spacious, had a bath and loads of hot water, also had safety deposit box and complimentary daily water. Unfortunatly no drawers, but used spare bed for clothes, so not a big issue. Our room was very close to the road with all the noises attached and the only way to see the pool was to lean over balcony or walk onto main path's. The sound proofing was non existing, we could hear every noise from not only our neighbours but the doors banging from the entire row of rooms (5 rooms away). If your a light sleeper, either use earplugs or DO NOT STAY HERE.
FOOD: We had breakfast included, unfortunatly the selection was very limited but the food was lovely and tasty. We also had lunch there on a few occasions, the staff are lovely and sooo friendly but the service was not always good, both meals did not arrive together, on one occasion my partners meal was almost finished before mine arrived.
STAFF: Reception staff are reserved, waiting staff are very friendly and welcoming, but service not always up to standard, Cleaning staff are also very friendly and rooms cleaned daily.
BEACH: looks fantastic but Sand is quite sharp under foot and for the majority of stay, sea was too rough to swim, did get some entertainment watching people losing swimwear when they ventured into water. possibly the time of year contributed to this. There are a lot of peddlers on the beach and they can be persistant at times.

Old bungalows with very creepy furniture. I found myself fighting with water temperatures since it won't from cold to extremely once in every minute.
The beach was very dirty and crowdy, no space to put a towel. The food was below average and not tasty at all. Bungalows are 2 min walk from main street. The street itself very crowdy with a lot of prostituts and smell was disgusting. Reception guy was not so friendly. However no to expect to much from place for 50$ per night.
If you want cheap place to stop, so fine. If you want to enjoy and rest - find another place. There are plenty of them for little bit more charge.

I stayed here for 3 nights. The bungalows are nice and spacious they are oldish but clean and defiantly adequate. They come complete with a mini bar and a safety deposit box. Each room has its own little balcony area where you can chill out. There is a pool but i didn't use it with the beach so close. The staff were friendly and the location is great.

You are a couple of steps from the beach, there is a massage corner, which is fantastic relaxation . The restaurant is reasonable and clean. There is also a bookcase of books in the restaurant so help yourself. It is a two minute stroll to the main strip of Lamai where you can find, restaurants, bars etc.

Its great value for money in a great location.
