We've been a frequent visitors to Koh Samui and recently we've always picked this little gem of a resort along the east coast of the island. If you are looking for a hotel in the middle of action, then this is not for you. But if you are looking for a quiet hotel conveniently located in between different parts of the island, then like us you'd love this location.

Almost all of the rooms and the bathrooms have stunning sea view. The rooms are basic but nice. The swimming pool and deck is a great place to unwind after a long day running around the island. Breakfast is a bit disappointing so we always just go out and try out one of the many local noddle shops along the roads.

The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. They clearly remember us by our 3rd stay and we can now demand to have the same room every time we go!

We've been to Samui Cliff View Resort & Spa for our firts 2 night in Samui with our 3 and 8 month boy and 1 and 7 month little boy. We've booked the beachfront villa which is a large villa on the beach with large bed and very nice bathroom with hot-tub. We've also got a baby cott as we asked when we booked. The hotels is loacated on a very steep cliff and the access to the resturant, the pool and the reception is very difficult, especially with kids but the staff was very kind and always came to pick us up. Overall, very nice hotel, very good staff.

Room Tip: Rooms next to the pool and restaurant

We booked the waterfront villas for 2 nights. WHAT A MISTAKE. We only booked due to the view from the top and the pictures online. False pictures and false reviews on AGODA.COM. We sent a review to agoda but they didn't publish it, seems they only publish good reviews.

The first thing we noticed was that there was no wifi signal at the bottom of the hill, even though the waterfront villas said in-room wifi. FALSE, there is only wifi up the top from the main lobby. When we confronted reception we were told we were wrong and they do not advertise in-room wifi, we were wrong and we misread (yeah their english is crap). As i knew they would say that i showed them a screenshot i had taken with my phone showing "IN-ROOM WIFI" well that was the start. We managed to get the second night cancelled through agoda.

THE ROOM
HA! half eaten out by white ants, the tracks were everywhere, we were in villa 5, first on the left at the bottom. The bed had no pillow cases on the pillow, the bathroom (more like a shed built on the the villa side) smelt like piss, was full of mozzies as it was not closed up to the open air (like i said a shed), there was no spare linen, the closets were full or dirt and spider webs, there were cockroaches everywhere in the room, even on the hutch at the back of the bed, so we moved that back from the bed, there was a mozzie net but only on the sides not only the top (WTF!), the aircon made a clunking noise all night and took about 3 hrs to actually cool the room down. And sorry you can't keep the aircon on as you only have 1 key and you need to use the key to operate the aircon.

The bed was hard as a rock and since we only had 1 pillow each, it was not a good night at all. We call reception to get more pillows and clean pillow cases and were told "Sorry we don't have any spare as we are fully booked" I'M SORRY IS THIS A HOTEL? SERIOUSLY YOU CAN'T EVEN GET A PILLOW CASE BECAUSE THEY WERE SO TIGHT OR MAYBE JUST TOO LAZY TO BRING ONE DOWN.

The rooms are very very old and even had outdated big box TV's, and to no surprise, they had 4 channels that were all fuzzy. No fans

THE POOL BAR
HA! There is NO POOL BAR - there is an empty room next to the pool with junk in it and no staff anywhere near by. you have to walk all the way to the top to reception to ask for a drink by the pool. They consider a pool bar, being able to get a drink delivered to you at the pool.

BREAKFAST
HA! worst we ever had in Thailand. We left and went into town to each breakfast again, food was all cold for the limited range there was. The staff we again miserable.

As an Aussie couple who stayed in 6 hotels while we were in Thailand, this was the worse hotel for service, cleanliness, price, location & facilities. This is a 1 star hotel with a long way to walk from the bottom to the top.

We were excited to get an online deal for $70AU a night, after seeing the spectacular view from reception. After seeing the room, it didn't seem like such a great deal. Very worn out furniture, holes in the bed sheets and could barely see the ocean from our room. Breakfast average, stick with an omlette. The staff were friendly and quite efficient, took about 5 minutes to check out. The pool is great and the views awesome but if those are not extremely important to you, I would not recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Samui Cliff View Resort on our honeymoon and had originally booked for two nights. We booked this hotel based on the magnificent view over the ocean from the reception area. As we found out, that was the only decent thing about this hotel. We ended up checking out after one night because we couldn't handle another night there.

We chose to stay in the beachfront bungalows, however, there was certainly no beachfront here! You had to climb over rocks and jump into the water if you wanted to go for the swim, and if you wanted to get out - have fun dodging the many many crabs that call these rocks home.

Our room was very dated and HOT! Like most hotels in Thailand, the power is operated by a tag on your room key which forces the power to turn out when you leave your hotel. THis was ok in most places because the room would cool down fairly quickly in most hotels upon your return, however at the Samui Cliff View, we had to leave our room and sit outside for a good half hour because the room was unbearably hot and stuffy. The bathroom is also quite segregated from the bedroom and does not get ANY air through it (even when the air conditioner is switched on) making it very hot also.

The bathroom shower smelt like urine, the bath gel for the jacuzzi was empty, there were cobwebs in corners and it just felt dirty.

There was one pillow for each of us on the bed and we found another two in a cupboard. However, the two in the cupboard did not have a pillowcase and were dirty and stained yellow. Upon calling reception and requesting two more pillows or pillowcases, we were rudely informed that they did not have any spare as they were fully booked (an obvious lie - it was obvious that the majority of rooms were unoccupied and when we asked housekeeping the next mornig if they were busy they informed us 'no, very quiet').

Breakfast was very very average - food was mostly cold and the lady making the omelettes was very rude and made it seem like a hassle to cook the omelette (even though it was her job!!!).

Even though it was stated on the internet that there is in room Wi-Fi access, this is not the case. The only spot we could get it in the hotel was in the lobby.

This was the worse hotel we stayed at in Thailand and I certianly would not reccomend to anyone. There are much nicer places to stay with friendlier staff.

When you arrive the first impression is positive. The view is really the ToP. Than you have millions of steps up side down to tourn up and down !! Good for exercise a bit ! The rooms are really clean with a very nice jaquzi and unforgettable views. Villas ( i have been there too) in the ground floor are located 10 mts from the sea very very nice !! Wifi open 7/24. Rooms a bit too old style furniture. Noising air condition and old screen tv ( catodic) .... One time in my life.
Happy day !!

I agree with John R that the descriptions given about this hotel are over generous.
We booked this hotel after receiving a 5 night deal via CUDO, and paid $550 AUD / 5 nights ( or 3500 baht per night ), valued at $1645 AUD / 5 nights.
To be frank, it was only just acceptable at the discounted rate of $110 AUD / night, and I definitely would not have been happy had we paid more.
Happy to agree that the resort does have great views, and would be happy to recommend rooms 323, 324, and 325, for it.
The room was cleaned daily, and had good amenities. The bed and bedding were comfortable. The spa bath was a bonus!
The resort has a nice pool and the restaurant has decent food at somewhat hefty prices.
The staff were generally friendly and helpful.
Overall this place could be a great place to stay - if you get your room for the right price!
