This beach has the reputation of being the nicest on the island. It is actually an average super crowded beach. It is very shallow and the water is not much clearer than elsewhere (as an experienced diver, I tend to skip most diving in Thailand since the water is not generally very clear and the diversity is limited). I can't imagine what you can see snorkeling here...
The beach is super crowded and you need to look hard to find a spot.
Overall, it is an ok place to check out but we've found much nicer beaches in Samui

The food choices are limited (especially for student budget) but I don't regret going. Very chilled atmosphere.

Lovely beach with pristine sand and sea. No sunbeds meant shade was scarce and crowded under the trees. The sea was calm but beware of the underwater rocks - easy to cut your feet/legs on them.
There are a couple of restaurants at each end of the beach.

Good for snorkeling and swimming. There are a few hotels and restaurants a long the beach. There are only a few shady spots. You can see fish even from above the water. Be careful when you step though as the stones are everywhere. If you like snorkeling and prefect sand and crystal clear water (who doesn't) then this is the beach for you to visit.
