“Great place, very good value, noisy location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2013

We paid 3700 baht through Agoda for 4 nights. The standard of accommodation for the price paid was excellent and it was very clean. Large comfy bed, a/c, fridge, TV (not really needed, but good to have when I was ill), powerful shower. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Not far from the beach and the main street of Lamai. Sadly too close for me to the strip of go-go bars that blasted out very loud music until 3am every night.

Room Tip: We initially had room 201 which was next to the stairs, we moved to the top floor 303 and it was lov...

I travelled to Thailand for my first time this past December with a group of friends, Koh Samui was our first stop and Hathai House definitely set the bar for my expectations on accomadation in Thailand. (which was never even closely met after) The pool is great, staff were extremely helpful and friendly, as well as being in a good location. Beach isn't very close but a good walk or scooter drive just adds to the experience! Great restaurants just down the road, as well as being close to the action but far enough that you can sleep perfectly. There was 9 of us and we all agreed this place was fantastic! When you look at the price as well this is top value for your money! WINNER

Been to Thailand several times and have thus stayed in a variety of hotels/accomidation, and can truly say Hathai house was superb. The rooms are comfortable, well equiped and clean. The staff was very friendly and accomidating. The pool was such an awesome feature after a long hot day exploring the island. The location may seem far out to some but to be perfectly honest its is the perfect distance from Lami beach and far enough not to be overwhelmed with the night-life & noise of Lamai.

There are three 'must haves' for me in booking Thai accommodation; pool, air con and room safe. Hathai House ticks all these boxes plus much more. Well located for shops and night life, excellent free wifi, great breakfast and friendly help and service from Noo and her staff. We had a poolside room so cooling off was real easy without the hassle of locking up your room and carting around gear which you need to do in the larger resorts. The only shortcoming (and a minor one) is the absence of tea/coffee making facilities in- room, so just got used to living with my one cuppa in the morning at breakfast!

Hathai house was alright for a few nights although I would probably stay elsewhere if I returned to Lamai.

The rooms were spacious, with clean linens and big comfortable bed. Fresh towels were provided daily. There were many dvds available to watch which was great. The hotel was about a five minute walk to the beach.

Why I probably would stay elsewhere next time: the pool was cloudy - I didn't see a soul brave it during my visit. The bathrooms lacked ventilation and as a result the humidity attracted cockroches (removed two during my stay there). Laundry was overpriced at 50 baht / kg. Go down the road and get it done for 30.

For Lamai it's an ok option, but I would investigate other places first.

I loved my stay here. The staff (for most a older woman, but sometimes a younger man) was excellent and took really good care of their guests! At the end of the stay it felt in a way that she was our (me and my two friends) grandmother!

There's not a great number of rooms, but that doesn't matter. The rooms were very neat and tidy and just the right size for hotel room. The bed could maybe have been a bit softer, but it was no big problem. TV on the room, and english speaking movies to lend in the reception. The hotel also had a laundry service, and puts the clothes in to the room when they are done. There is also a pool in the center of the hotel, but we never used it. It looked nice though.

The location is in the upper of Lamai beach, but the distance to the beach is not far. It is quite nice to take the walk down to the long beach, which took about 10-15 minutes. Theres a small restaurant in the reception of the hotel where we ate some of our meals. Simple food, but still really tasty and cheap. The walking distance to nearby restaurants is not long.

As of the location it's quite quiet around the hotel, with exeption for a thai boxing place just around the corner. If the windows are open you can hear the noise quite well to your room.

To sum up: A really nice hotel which I gladly can recommend to anyone else!

Hathai House is a favourite with friends of mine who have been going to Lamii Beach for many years.
I first went 3 years ago and would not even think about stopping anywhere else.
Very reasonably priced and conveniently located yet still away from the noisy main street and bars.
Peaceful and relaxed, just a 200 yard stroll from the beach (which is fantastic) and nightlife.
Rooms are spotless (yes - really) with quality linen which is changed daily.
Bathrooms are clean but basic (as in many of Thailand hotels).
The hotel is family run and nothing is too much to ask for.
An absolute "YES" - I am just booking to go again in May which will be my 5th time.
