“Beautiful hotel”
Reviewed 6 March 2014 via mobile

Our stay at Hathai was really pleasant the staff were lovely, the accomodation was beautiful, it was kept clean on a daily basis. The pool is a great added bonus but there was only 4 loungers for 12 rooms which sleep 2+ in each one, if the loungers where all taken there wasn't a lot of room around the pool for you to put a towel down as the pool area is small. Apart from that we had no complaints. We found the area around Hathai house very seedy and full of bars with Thai ladies basically selling sex. I would stay again but only if I could move the location of the hotel.

This is a good clean place to stay, very much like a motel. It has a jug for making coffee and tea but they do not supply you any tea or coffee, I've never seen that before. Good staff and good location. However it is only good at under 1,000 baht, over that I would elsewhere.

Room Tip: My opinion is a high floor room away from the swimming pool noise is better.

We had a lovely week or so at Hathai house, and were very touched by the hospitality and professionalism of the staff - such lovely people, always willing to help, and always with a smile. The room was great and included a fridge, which was very handy to store water and also fresh fruit that we got from the markets. The desk and chair, as well as two rattan chairs to sit on were also a great touch, not always seen in hotels in Thailand. The pool was also divine, and very clean :)

My only advice would be to take the back road (beside the swimming pool) at night into Lamai or the beach, to avoid the seedy vibe on the main road to the right, which is an unfortunate aspect of Lamai, in general. The beach, however, is awesome :)

Great location and a very nice, little place to stay. Good beds. Clean room and bathroom. The owners are very nice and helpful. There is a possibility to have breakfast but in 8 minutes walk there is a great breakfast place right on the beach. (Best banana shake and egg sandwich ever!)
I highly recommend the Hathai house!

Stayed in May 2013. Have stayed previously on this property. It's a small boutique hotel with simple, clean and basic facilities with a swimming pool to boot. If you are a traveller on a budget then this little hotel is the right place to stay. Rooms are large. Toilet is basic but clean. Located behind the old Lamai Boxing Stadium, Hathai House is a convenient location to the beach (about a brisk 7 minute walk), massage places (about 5 minutes walk), bars and local food just around the corner. Owner Jimmy and his team make guests feel at home with their service and smiles. Negatives - better maintenance of simple things like curtain railings, fused light bulbs, newer towels...the usual wear & tear regular upkeep stuff that needs some attention. Otherwise this is a good place to stay if one is on a budget!

Room Tip: Choose the rooms on the Ground Floor if you want to just roll out of bed and into the swimming pool.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The owner is quite friendly and the family lives on premises. The grand kids greeted all the visitors with a big hello. I also booked through Agoda for around 900THB per night. They did not have space when I wanted to extend and I ended up next door in slightly less gracious accommodations for 600THB per night.
