“We had so much fun at Ying's”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

The school takes a maximum of 4 people per day and I think this really improves the whole experience. Ying speaks great English and also speaks German, this really made things easy. The day starts with Ying picking us up at our resort, we then decided on the dishes we wanted to cook and then off to the market to collect the ingredients. We drove to her home where the cooking school is located and picked a few final ingredients from her garden. Ying really takes the time to explain why and how specific ingredients are used in Thai cooking. We then cooked 4 courses, enjoying each dish as soon as we cooked it. Delicious!! Ying is fun, friendly and knowledgeable. By the time we arrived back to the resort, we received recipes and photos from the day in our email inbox. A must for anyone who loves Thai food

“Yings cooking class”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

When in Thailand we were interested into an original thai cooking class. Looking around the various offers from your local 5* Hotel or as well through google - we found quite some, however after attending the one of Ying we have to say it is really top of the notch from a quality perspective.
You get picked up from your hotel on time and from there the experience and entertainment all together starts.
The cooking class starts with a visit to one of the typical local markets and there Ying explains in quite some details all the different kind of things you see there - herbs, veggies, fish, etc. and as well how it is typically used within the different kind of meals you can create with them.
Please be prepared to try some stuff there already - so don't get too much breakfast ;-)

From there we went to her home and started with a tour through the private herbal garden and tried different kinds of e.g. thai basil, mint etc.

An then the experience begins - typically you cook 3-4 main dishes and a desert, that you after each round as well can enjoy. The cooking class is not only filled with lots of practical tips, however as well - if you are open to it a fun day by itself as Ying is as well quite a humorous person.

On a sidenote Ying speaks as well fluently Austrian - meaning german with a nice Austrian flavor.

Attending the course we felt quite at home at a local thai family and it is definitely an experience if you are are looking for something special beside the mainstream.

“Excellent cookery course, a reason on it's own to visit Koh Samui!”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

Wonderful! Ying is enthusiastic, knowledgable and passionate about Thai cooking and the recipes she shares with you are all passed down in her family! After meeting the two other participants at the market (maximum of 4) we were able to choose our menu for the day followed by a market tour to buy all the necessary ingredients! This was fantastic, we learnt a lot about local Thai ingredients and could buy some extras to take home! At her home we were treated to lots of information about traditional Thai ways of living and picked some fresh herbs and vegetables from the family garden! It was great to see some of the traditional ways people prepare food in Thailand! The food we cooked under Yings careful instruction tasted wonderful! It's very satisfying eating a curry you have worked hard to create the paste for and being able to adjust for personal taste! I can honestly say this was one of the highlights of our trip and we would recommend it to anyone staying on Koh Samui!

“Authentic cooking class.”
Reviewed 29 May 2014 via mobile

Having recently done a cooking class with ying, I can only recommend that you do it if you're looking for a good day out, with a lovely person teaching you to cook great food.

The day started with a trip to the local market where Ying will show you some weird and wonderful ingrediants and is an experience in itself.

The good thing about Yings class, is that you choose what you cook, unlike many cooking classes where you cook the standard set menu.

Following some disappointing restaurant attempts,We cooked my favourite pad thai, and it was great to finally get a decent and authentic one.

We also cooked a yellow fish curry. Beautiful. But be careful when Ying asks you how hot you want it. Take my word for it, thai hot is a lot hotter than western hot!

Ying is a lovely person, who seems to love what she does, and does it very well. The class takes place at her home with her parents helping out, so you really get an idea of thai life.

This is a day we won't forget. Thanks Ying.

“Awesome day with lots of laughing!”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

It was fantastic, positive and fun day!!! The smiles passed across our faces since we met Ying. This class was a memorable event of our trip to Thailand.

We started the day by visiting the local market, where we learnt some common and quite interesting ingredients which are used in Thai cuisine. Then we arrived at Ying's home and met her beautiful family. It was great learning some basic preparation techniques and with Ying's help we cooked a delicious meal. It was a wonderful lunch with great conversation and lots of laughing.

It was very very very AWESOME cooking day! This was definitely the highlight of our trip and an experience we will never forget. Thank Ying and her friendly family who made us feel so welcome in her house and for all the Thai knowledge she tought us, not only about cooking but specially about their traditions.
Ying is great person! Always smiling, positive and high-energy!

If you are going to Koh Samui you definitely should visit this place. It's not only about cooking, it's also about having a lot of fun with amazing people:)
