“Great!”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Perfect location outside the more lively areas.
I rented a bike and used that to transport myself into Lamai town/beach.
Otherwise Angus and/or his wife would helped me.
Great rooms with great beds.
Great poolarea with nice surroundings.
This is the place i will stay whenever i go to Samui.
this was the first time but not the last!

I went to stay with Angus and Hom for 6 days during August and I must say that they made our stay an extremely pleasant experience. The boast a large menu with lots of options catered towards their continental market and also for people wanted to have a taste of home cooked Thai food. Everyday I tried something new on the menu and loved every bite of it, well played to Hom and her children for providing such a service for an incredibly low price; about 50-110 baht for a main course, beers on the side or a glass of wine only set you back about 60 baht.

The rooms are a little dated and the shower sprays directly onto the toilet, but we found we only used the rooms for sleeping and drying off our swimming gear and towels, the island had so much to offer.

Angus and Hom will also book you a scooter for only 150 baht per day which rivals all the local scooter rental places, no hassle either as they drove the scooter straight to the hotel and you pay after renting it.

The hotel is located off a couple of side roads in the South Eastern part of the island as in within easy access to some beautiful beaches, we tended not to go to the nearest beach but drove over to a place called 'Coral Beach' which was only a 15 minute drive and provided an incredible place to chill and snorkel.

Overall I would have given a 5 but the only thing was that you would struggle to see the reef from the hotel and also the rooms were a little dated but liveable.

Definitely go here if you are a couple or travelling with friends and would like a place that is a little further away all the hustle and bustle of the towns on this beautiful island.

Room Tip: Try to get a pool view room, ours backed straight onto the restaurant.

This is a very decent budget hotel. It is located up a little road off the main Samui ring road, and is very easy to get to (we hired a moped). We stayed in a 2 room apartment which was very spacious, with a well equipped kitchenette.

On our travels, we find that the small things make a big difference where service is concerned and these are just a few of the things that are available to guests:
1) the hotel has an extensive DVD library from which you can borrow films to play on your in-room DVD players;
2) we were dropped off at the Nathon ferry when we left the island, free of charge.
3) the is a free shuttle service between the hotel and Lamai during the day, and the hotel lets you have a local mobile, so that you can phone them when you are ready to return.
4) there was sun tan lotion and mosquito repellent at the bar, which you can avail yourself of, if you have run out.

Thank you Angus and Hom!

I spent 9 days here from 22-31 July. I am now back home in Canberra, Australia, and have found the weather so cold I have just booked another month at this resort from early next week. The resort is set well away from the touristy hubbub of beachfront Lamai but close enough to easily enjoy interludes. Angus and Hom provide a shuttle service to Lamai during the day, however I chose to walk down the hill to the main road and jump on a songthaew which always cost THB50 to anywhere around Lamai (a great opportunity to practice my Thai). Taxi fares were always THB200 so if you are travelling in a group it may be the better option as the songthaew is per person. Ideally if you are a competent motorcycle rider this would be by far the best option as they are cheap as chips to hire and Angus can organise this for you. The restaurant is open from 8:30am with last orders around 7:00pm. The food is really good and cheap as - same for the drinks. Most of the rooms front onto the pool and have a verandah/porch. The rooms are clean and a good size with very large beds. The storage is basic with shelving and hanging space. The bathroom is quite large and is best described as a wet room. Just remember to keep the lid down on the toilet and you wont get a wet bum when you go to the toilet. The rooms are made up with clean linen/towels every 3 days although they willingly changed my towels more often when requested. The bar fridge is well stocked with beer (THB60/THB80), wine coolers, softies and water. The pool is well maintained and more often than not I had it to myself. Angus and Hom, and their staff were great and I am looking forward to catching up with them again soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room fronting the pool, preferably on the high side of the complex.

My partner and I visited Koh Samui as part of our honeymoon and we were coming off the back of a terrible hotel so we were looking for somewhere we would be treated well. This place went beyond our expectations. First of all I have to say Angus and Hom (Owners) were absolutely fantastic in welcoming us to stay. Very friendly, answered all of our questions upon arrival and even advised on what to see on the island. We had a free lift to the beach from Angus and was given a mobile to call when we were done which was great on the first day without a moped. The room was perfect just what you need. Clean, comfortable and even a selection of DVDs should you want to chill in the evening. The pool was right outside which was clean and well maintained. The food in the restaurant was great also. Upon leaving Hom organized all of our trip with the company even picking us up from the hotel for a decent price. I strongly recommend a stay here for anyone looking for a good priced room with great service. We shall definitely be looking to stay again on our return to Samui. Thanks again Angus and Hom.

I was traveling with my buddy in Thailand and Koh Samui was our second stop. Reef View is bit far away from Maenam Pier, where our ferry arrived at Koh Samui. But we booked Lomprayah company's transfer service, which only cost 150B. I suggest travelers use this safe and cheap service if you traveled with Lomprayah. The van took around 1 hour to bring us to Reef View, but we thought it as a sight seeing trip anyway.

The moment we arrived at Reef View, Angus (owner of the resort) greeted us warmly, led us to our room and explained us their avavilable service and policies. There is free transfer service to take you to the beach. The nearest 7-11 was 20-minute-walk away, Angus said he could take us there but we took a walk.

The room was spacious and clean. There is a small pool, a pool table in the dining area and free dvds and books to borrow. And since now is not peak season, only 2 rooms were occupied so it was really quiet in the resort, we loved it.

If you booked any activity on Koh Samui, most likely the agency will provide pick up service. We booked a kayaking trip and we only needed to walk less than 5 minutes to an intersection to wait for the van and it took 30 mintues to go to the pier (the same pier we embarked for Krabi later).

I could see that Angus has put great effort in maintaining the resort. The price is very reasonable. I recommend Reef View if you were traveling on a budget like us.

Stayed here for around 8 days for a friends wedding

The rooms were very clean and bed sheets changed every other day

The food in the restaurant was a great mix of western and thai and very reasonably priced

The hotel is a little out of the way but Angus and Hom provide an excellent service of shuttling you around either to the airport or nearby neighbour hoods so it is not a problem

Very friendly and helpful with great local knowledge and advise

Would definetly stay again
