The Fovant Badges are a set of regimental badges cut into a chalk hill between Salisbury and Shaftesbury in the Cotswolds. They were made by soldiers garrisoned nearby and waiting to go to France during WWI. Eight of the original twenty remain. Took a great effort to accomplish this, so it’s worth a short stop by to view. Apparently the recruits didn't play baseball in their spare time so they did this. Little did they know what was to await them!
