I booked a travelzoo deal for myself and my daughter (well two deals actually - a spa day and an overnight stay, and combined them). I paid 209 in total and this was to include two treatments each, overnight stay, dinner in the claret jug and breakfast. After reading some of the reviews I was a bit worried about the rooms but we were not disappointed. We stayed in room 244. It was a lovely spacious room, spotlessly clean with twin beds (very comfy with immaculate white bedding) dressing table, drawers a matching unit containing a safe and a fridge, two comfy armchairs and a coffee table. Bathroom was really nice too with spotless thick white towels.
The hotel itself is a very impressive building, with lovely grounds allvery well maintained.
The spa is quite small but very nice with an outdoor seating area which we enjoyed as it was a hot day. Only three loungers by the pool - disappointing - but there really wasn't much space to add any more. Our treatments were fab, the beauticians were very professional and courteous and we enjoyed every minute.
The claret jug is the golf club restaurant. It's nicely done out with a lovely decked balcony overlooking the golf course. The menu was limited but I have the say the service was dreadful. After ordering our drinks we waited around twenty minutes for them to be brought to our table. Main course and sweets took ages too. Food was ok, but nothing special.
Breakfast was lovely, it's a buffet which seems to put some people off, but we really enjoyed it. Lots of fresh fruits, nice breads, cheeses, pastries etc plus the full English option which was all presented very well. You could also order specials from the menu ie kippers or scrambled egg and smoked salmon. The staff were very busy but polite and friendly.
All in all, despite the disappointment of the claret jug, we had a lovely time and would return.

Great weather great days golf but hotel lacking. Wifi not working, no draught ales so back to club house, food very expensive but ordinary and sorry but forget the breakfast (cold) for the price must do better, a lot better. Other devere hotels within price range worth the money but not visiting this one again

I stayed as part of a two day works event. The entrance is impressive as you drive through the middle of the golf course to the hotel. Ample car parking around the hotel, you'll find reception even if you park up away from the main entrance.

The reception area is located in the old house. The whole building is beautiful, with very high ceiling, impressive reception rooms, restaurant and terrace area.

The bedroom I stayed in (143) was large. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was very effective however some of the furniture was very dated. The bathroom was also very dated with a toilet seat which was chipped and therefore difficult to clean. The tiles and grout / sealant around the shower / bath was black and not very enticing.

The worst thing was the dust. I reached to switch the bed side light off and ran my hand across the top of the bed side table only to find a thick layer of dust on my fingers - nice!

Bar - nice bar but a little disappointed that the hotel didn't have any stout at all (no Guinness, Murphy's etc)

Breakfast - the restaurant is nicely decorated (black and red) and has a very luxurious feel to it however the service leaves a lot to be desired. A nice treating and shown to a table. Nice linens and the offer of tea/coffee and toast, however after that the service seemed to go down hill. My tea and toast never arrived until I asked the third member of staff. Instead of putting the preserves on each table you then have to get up and go to the buffet table. This is clearly to save the staff from having to put preserves on every table when they can simply put a tureen on the buffet table full of pots and have done with it!

The selection wasn't overly impressive, not nuts or seeds to make your own muesli, limited fruit and what was available wasn't very well prepared.

All in all, not bad. A little dated so if you're going to stay over get a deal and you'll have a great stay but if you pay full price you'll feel a little cheated

Hope this helps

Room Tip: Make sure you check your air conditioning works before you unpack!

Travelled up for a one night stay and two rounds of golf. The first course we played was quite challenging, the greens were quite poor but still an enjoyable round. Second course was different, the greens were good and the course was a good challenge. The room was a fair size, the bed was very comfortable the en-suite could do with a bit of tlc. The restaurant was excellent and the food was very good, great choice and all piping hot. The staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is easily accessed from the M62 .

We got a good deal, booking direct with de vere for dinner, bed and breakfast, plus 2 rounds of golf.

Golf course was in great condition. There was a few people on the course so we couldn't go as fast as we wanted, but the weather was lush so we didn't mind waiting.

Rooms were good, spa, pool etc very good.

We had dinner in the claret jug and we were happy with it. We could have had dinner in the restaurant but we were keen to be a bit less formal.

Breakfast first class as normal for de vere.

Would recommend and will be back!!

Stayed here with my wife in July for a business gala dinner. I had played golf in the morning and whilst not a bad course it's condition isn't superb compared to other De Vere courses such as Carden Park (which IMO is a nicer complex full stop).
The room was of a reasonable size but was very warm due to the time of year. Furnishings and decor were of a good standard.
we had a couple of drinks on the patio outside the Champage Bar which was very nice and ate at the gala dinner in one of the conference rooms. I must confess that the dinner was very good quality as well.
Had breakfast the following morning which was OK but nothing fantastic.
Would I stay here again - possibly but wouldn't necessarily rush back.

The staff and service in this hotel is fantastic it was a real pleasure. The reception staff were organised and got us into our room quickly and efficiently with the added bonus of someone helping with our bags. The room was clean and spacious and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was really great, huge selection to suit anyone's requirements with great waitresses. The only let down was the view from our room. I am not worried about not having an amazing view as not everyone can but looking out onto loads of weeds was a very big disappointment. Luckily the hotel over compensated with everything else. I will be going back and will make an effort to use the spa facilities next time.
