“First wedding anniversary”
Reviewed 23 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and had a day in the spa which was lovely we enjoyed a massage and a facial which were excellent and all the staff were lovely, the pool and other amenities were very nice and clean too.
The hotel we had a groupon so enjoyed a stay meal and breakfast which was a fantastic price for what you got, the hotel is gorgeous and also the service is great, we had a lovely meal in the claret jug and they even brought over complementary champagne for our anniversary which was lovely.
This hotel really made our first anniversary very special and will be returning.

Booked a nights stay under dinner bed and breakfast offer. As previously stayed and is great value money. We decided to spend the afternoon in the champagne bar. We tried different cocktails and champagne. Was a gorgeous afternoon a little bit pricey but worth it. We decided to opt for room service which was lovely did take a while to arrive but again worth the wait. Breakfast was a real winner with lots of choice was very busy so waiters were rushed. Easy checkout. Will definitely return. a beautiful hotel and lovely food and drink!!

Myself and friends booked afternoon tea at the hotel and what a lovely experience. The room had comfy sofas and chairs and the staff were very attentive. We had a choice of different teas or coffees and the food consisted of a variety of dainty sandwiches, lovely homemade scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, Yorkshire tea bread with cheese and a selection of pastries. It was very relaxing and we spent 3 hours eating and chatting before getting a box to take home the food we were unable to eat. Quite expensive but worth the treat every now and again. Will definitely be going again. Have never stayed at the hotel or eaten in the restaurant so can't comment on this.

Went to Oulton hall for the second time this year. Different friend this time, the service was just as brilliant as the first time. Nothing is too much trouble. The food was excellent. We managed to run up the usual huge bar bill in the Champagne bar, but its worth it. One day I will make it to the Spa!!!

We booked this as a part of a recent "Wowcher" Offer. Firstly the place is simply stunning from grounds to lobby. The place fills you joy just being there. The sauna, spa and Jacuzzi area are lovely. Everywhere was spotlessly clean (communal areas). On first impressions the room was lovely, my only gripe on with the room was the bathroom could do with a freshen up, the toilet cistern felt on its last legs and struggled to flush and the shower head was full with limescale. The restaurant in the golf club was lovely friendly service and setting. Cannot fault the restaurant. My main issue is:

Lack of communication, staff would only tell you half the information that was required, IE at check in we were not actually told where our room was, breakfast we were sat down "do you want tea and toast" which were duly brought over but it was never pointed out to us that it was a self service breakfast in the other room. My feeling was that as soon as the staff found out we were "Woucher" customers we weren't entitled to the same level of service, I will stress this is an assumption.

We often stay use offers like that as we are searching for a large wedding venue, and like to visit/stay over at potential locations. Based on the service alone I could not consider this as a venue.

Room Tip: if you are booking for romance then richmond suit pretty good

Dear Guest,

Thanks for your Review, we appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback.
I was pleased to read you had positive comments about the hotel and it's surroundings but sorry you felt that the standards of cleanliness in the Swaledale suite were not up to scratch.
We will follow up your comments regarding breakfast with our kitchen team and Executive Head Chef to ensure this is resolved - thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Thanks again, we appreciate you giving us a Review.

Best wishes,

Paid £200 for a spa day for 2 for myself and my girlfriend, that included lunch and one drink.. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly receptionist staff and asked what we'd like to do first whether it be to get into the robes for lunch or straight to the lunch area.
We ordered off the menu, two very simple sandwiches... Which took almost 45 minutes to come which was a downside, which kind of prevented us from using the spa facilities for that little bit longer. We ordered water on arrival too, which we had to ask for when we was eating which again took 50 minutes to come and their was only 10 guest sat down at the time, not too sure what the hold up was.

Once we were both changed, we went through to the pool area. I had been told previously to this visit that the pool 'grids' were dirty. They unfortunately were, and look like they had been for a while, the pool water was quite cloudy as well. The sauna and steam rooms were great.

An hour later we had our treatments. Salt and Oil body scrub and Hot Stones Massage. Absolutely fantastic. Im used to having a general massage once a month and the one I had from one of the young ladies their was amazing. My girlfriend enjoyed hers too... She also had a facial and said that it was one of the best she'd ever had!

Overall it was good, just needs to be regularly cleaned and service to be sped up.
