“An oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

My wife and I are regular travellers to Majorca and we were looking for somewhere new to go so decided to try this without being sure what to expect. What an absolute delight this is. It is not far from Manacor, just off the Manacor - Palma road. Pass through Villafranca, a beautiful little town with a couple of the best looking shops you will ever see. Els Calderers is an old estate house maintained in a style of the turn of the 18th century. It feels as if it is still lived in and is lovingly preserved and has the most attractive inner courtyard and garden you could ever wish for. It is a real antidote to the hustle of the rest of the island and is something not to be missed. It is one of those places where one wishes them great success but hopes that greater crowds do not detract from the romance and atmosphere of the place. As well as the house there are a number of animals kept in the grounds and there are also typical mallorcan delicacies to taste on the way round.

“200 years waiting for you”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

I love this estate! Visiting the house and the farm you can imagine what life was like 200 years ago,This was our third visit and each time we go I enjoy it just as much as before. The setting is so peaceful and there are never many people around - neither staff or visitors! It is indeed "the other Mallorca" -one that those who just hug the beaches will never see, which is a real shame. The presence of lots of farm animals makes it a good place to visit with children.

“A Most Impressive House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

This is one of the best presented houses I can recall seeing. It is so well presented and uncluttered and gives an excellent idea of what life in a farming family must have been like in the 19th century. Agreed, we went out of season when there were few people there but it was a great experience. The only let down was that the so called bar/café could only provide soft drinks and canned beer even though they had equipment for hot drinks and could easily have sold snacks and cakes. To some extent, this is their loss, but we always like to either sit and relax with a coffee/tea after viewing or else sitting down to study the literature before commencing a tour.

Overall, though, I would still put it in the excellent category.

“Touch of history - non commercial face of Mallorca”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2014

I visited this house many years ago on business trip. Visit has left deep impression, and now I have used opportunity to repeat this visit.
It is really difficult to review this experience. Sure, there are many similar houses in the world, and I have saw many. But this has very specific atmosphere. Visit is really interesting: visitor has feeling as he is travelling in time. If you will come out of season, maybe you will be there alone as me and my wife.
For me it was memorably experience again, may be a little decadent, but pleasant and relaxing.
Amazingly, nothing commercial there - and fee for entry is valuable. A smal exception (but again nice) is opportunity to taste wine, home made cake and some local specialty from pork.
A gloomy music in musical saloon is illustrating specific atmosphere.
Other face of Mallorca :)

“Els Calderers - Comparable to La Granja, historcial country house”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014

If you are a frequent visitor to Mallorca looking for a quality half day out in the South East of the Island this attraction is well worth a visit. Less commercial than La Granja, the house is beautifully set-out with a sense of historical continuity. The courtyard in Summer with the sun dancing across the pond is in my top ten photo's taken over the last 5-6 years. The attraction is easy to find, has excellent parking and a pleasant small café. The small farm contains well looked after animals and in my opinion would thoroughly recommend a visit if you are based on the East side of the Island Spring/Summer 2014.
