Grand Hyatt is a beautiful resort located conveniently from the main city. The amazing architecture overlooking the bambolim bay accompanied by a lot of greenery makes it a
picturesque holiday spot. The premises is huge and well spread out giving you the privacy you need. Me and my husband chose Hyatt to celebrate our anniversary and the hotel
staff were kind enough to upgrade us to a pool facing room overlooking the bambolim bay. The view from the room was scenic and spacious well kept rooms added to making our
stay very comfortable. The gym is well equipped. The pool and sauna is also good. The buffet spread is large giving one plenty of options and the food tastes good. Overall a
memorable stay and would like to visit again.

Over all I found the property to be very beautiful, as you would expect from Hyatt.

* Child Friendly

* nice bar / club on property!

The Service was exceptional, a few pointers though:
- when taking your room you should prefer sea view, the mountain view (or whatever) just doesn't cut it.
- while there is a beach, this is a resort for the resort itself, not for the beach
- food quality was a hit and miss, i personally preferred the quality of the food provided by room service, however don't expect speedy service, we had to wait up to an hour or more to get a milk shake!
- while the pool is a good size, consider it a dipping pool
- the SPA seemed to be located right next to the parking, don't know if that was the plan or an oversight.

over all I enjoyed the hotel, also we were a rather big group so that might have helped as well.

Room Tip: SEA Facing is what you want, don't settle for mountain view!

Dear Ratheen,

Warm greetings from Goa!

Thank you for your in-depth review and for choosing to stay with us.

We have taken your feedback into consideration the feedback about the food, and will take action on the same. The reason we had the spa located close to the parking lot is so that it's non resident users have easy access instead of walking through the property.

Looking forward to welcome you again.

Located at Panjim Goa, the location of the hotel is pretty centric and gives access to both north and south goa.
The premises are huge, and well spread out. It can be a disadvantage sometimes, depending on which block you are staying in.
Block 1 and 6 are very far off and a walk of not less than 400-500 meters from the reception.
A lot of greenery is pleasing to the eyes and the layout is pretty good. They also provide access to the beach, though it's not a great beach.

Food quality was reasonably good and tasty, their breakfast spread is large and they have a live dosa and eggs counter to suit your palate.

We had a 2 day event there, and that's where things got messy as the staff was really not in a position to deliver any service.
The maintenance and cleanliness was a bit poor, and they seemed to be having a severe staff shortage or just downright lazy employees.
Most of the things had to be asked multiple times before eventually being provided, it was as if the staff is doing a favour by catering to our needs.

The management of the buffet was pathetic and most of the items kept going out of stock even though number and profile of guests was unformed to the hotel well beforehand.
These are not the standards expected of a 5 star hotel.

I've stayed in small lodges and experienced better service than this.

That apart our room keys kept getting defunct after each usage and we had to change them multiple times.
There was some water leakage in the breakfast area as well.

What i'm getting to is that you wouldn't mind paying say Rs. 2000 per night for this kind of service but by Hyatt standards it is below acceptable limits also. Never experienced anything like this after staying at nearly 50 star hotels across the world.

I'd recommend give this one a skip and look at better options in Goa.

We went as a group of girls and got upgraded to the Grand suite with a clear view of the ocean from our room and private Jacuzzi. The staff was very helpful. The food had a lot of variety and sumptuous. We had a really great time even if it was off season. Only problem was a large group of men from a conference who created lot of nuisance and ogled at us and made all the women uncomfortable. But again the hotel staff went out of their way to help us and make us comfortable. As a final goodbye and surprise they even dropped us to the airport in an Audi Q5. Thank you for a lovely weekend Grand Hyatt!

Grand Hyatt is a visual treat and full marks for it but it was our nightmare to host event there. I am hosting events in India and abroad for last twenty years with all major hotel chains. But this was the only bad experience we have had. Grand Hyatt may have one of the large facilities but they do not know how to handle a group. We were hosting our 180 customers for two nights conference. The food was not upto the mark and the dishes were lying empty and no one to take care, bread/roti were coming half baked. Cleaning was the worst, no housekeeping or banquet staff to clean the hall. They even cheated by not delivering for paid and pre decided beverage package. Un cooperative staff who would not deliver even simple things . Think thrice not twice if you plan to host any event here.

It was indeed a pleasure to stay at this majestic hotel.. stayed here for 4N 5D with the Breakfast+dinner package... Built over 28 acres of land, it is one of the most beautiful properties in goa... I haven't stayed at other 5 star hotels in goa, so i cannot judge them.. So i am going to sum up my reviews with a few pros and cons of this hotel and a few things for the guests to keep in mind.

PROS: 1) beautiful property
2) private bay (don't mistake it for a beach)
3) Spacious rooms and bath-rooms
4) Bay-view rooms actually have an amazing view
5) 3 restaurants (the DINING ROOM- for buffet.... The Varendah-mainly for sea-food.... the CHULAH- for indian food) and 1 bar
6) Staff at the restaurants were very helpful and friendly.. Especially Chef Chetan at 'The Dining Room' was very sweet and it seemed that he was genuinely happy to cook food for us..
7) Outdoor and Indoor pools... Complimentary Steam and Sauna, gym and Jacuzzi.. All state of the art..

CONS:
1) Cannot go to the swimming pool without the proper swim-suit. My wife didn't have one. We had to buy one for her. They charged us Rs1650. The MRP was 1400.. They charged tax on top of it. There is never a tax on clothes... This was true cheating!!!!
2) Bay was full of stones and stray dogs..
3) The Chulah restaurant was not all that great. They have a set-menu for guests who have dinner included in their package. Not many options.. I had Murgh Tikka for starters and it was burnt.. 5 star hotels don't normally serve burnt food.. so i could not understand the reason why they did that
4) repetitive food for breakfast and dinner... got bored having the same things over and over again
5) Our Air conditioning malfunctioned during the second night of our stay and all night we felt uncomfortable not knowing the reason for the discomfort. The next day when we realized the AC was not working, we called the housekeeping and they fixed it straight away. But no compensation for the "no-sleep" night that we went through
6) Since it is a huge property, the restaurant and the guest rooms and very far from each other. When we ordered through room-service, it took more than an hour.. even though our order was very small..
7) During Check-out, the guy at the reception didn't seem courteous at all. Checking-in was nice where they made us feel special.. but during check-out, they had just lost respect for their guests...
8) they had mistakenly charged me for the dinner at The Chulah... It got sorted out but a lot of time was wasted.

POINTS TO REMEMBER:
1) Take a bay-view room for sure...
2) If you want to go to the city, don't take the taxi from the hotel. You will find plenty taxi drivers at the hotel gate.. You need to negotiate with them, but in any case, they will be cheaper than the hotel taxis...
3) Ask for Chef Chetan at 'the dining room'.. He will make yummy pastas, pizzas and grilled meat for you on your request... and he will be happy to do it.. :-)

Have a great time... Hope my review was useful.. :-)
