We drove all the way from Mumbai for a weekend trip and stayed at the plantation. It is an amazing place for nature lovers with acres and acres of plantation with anything and almost everything growing - cashew nut, black pepper, vegetables, etc. Amidst all this, the father son duo of Ajith and Ashok were inspiring in what they were doing and how well we were welcomed and taken care of. The plantation is a must visit and we plan to do it again, albeit with more time...

What a lovely place to stay! Peace and tranquillity with wonderful hospitality. We stayed for two nights, in the larger of the two bungalows, which was very spacious. The plantation is both very pretty, and also very interesting. Ajit, Doris, Ashok & Anil made us very welcome and we very much enjoyed their company. The food was absolutely fabulous - local dishes made from fresh local produce.
If you want a spell of rural peace and quiet, away from Goa's beaches, then this is the place for you.

This is a wonderful option if you are looking to see the less populated area surrounding main Goa. The owners are very kind and accommodating, food was excellent traditional goan cuisine, and the cottages and very clean and appealing. The farm property is simply amazing. I enjoyed strolling through the huge trees (coconut and chashew) and viewing the variety of spices and foods that they grew. Also, it is an excellent place for birdwatching, we saw many varieties early in the morning and at dusk. A truly wonderful experience. The river near by is an excellent walk and great place to swim. Overall, this was a beautiful experience; the perfect place to retreat.
I look forward to visiting again! thank you!

Everything was good. Accomodation is spacious and clean. The whole family was really nice and always helpful. Anil (Ashoks brother) and his wife stayed there the entire time and really gave us a lot of attention. They are great people! They also have transportation available (cousin Vinay) which for us was very good since we wanted to go to some places that not many people knew how to get there and Vinay was spot on when taking us. Near the property there is a really nice river that you can go for swimming, was just perfect! For those wondering about the eating situation, they provide everything in the farm (in rupies...breakfast: $100 / lunch: 250 / tea: 100 / dinner: 250). The food was also amazing and very well served, meaning you could eat as much as you like. Thanks for everything.

Away from the busy temples and crowded beaches of the touristy Goa, there is a piece of Goa tucked away in Karmane. This farm is serene beauty itself- surrounded by huge trees bearing spices, fruit bushes, flower beds.
You may sit on the Varanda of your chick cottage and watch the squirrels run around, listen to the breeze through the jungle, practice Yoga and meditation, read a book. Writers, artists would find an inspiring aura here.
The food here adds to the surreal experience- its fresh, homely and absolutely delicious!
The active and restless may find rigorous pursuits such as swimming in the nearby river, visit attractions close by or even help the farming by putting in some muscle work!

Thanks for taking the time to review our Farmstay. We're happy to hear that you found the place to be inspiring - one of our regular visitors is in fact an artist who visits our plantation every year or so for an inspiring retreat. For the 'active and restless', as you call them, we'll be adding some Kayaks and Mountainbikes from next year.

Had made plans to just stay at the beaches of Goa and enjoy the beach life - after few days while talking to a friend, found out about this nature retreat "Sussegado". I should say - it was a great experience. The first thing that comes to my memory is the "Solitude" and the warm hosts. Apart from the lovely farm and greenery, this place has a magical down to earth feel to it. I suggest visiting this place to those people who like nature and who want to rewind, relax for few days.

Will go back for a visit soon, the smell and taste of the excellent food I ate there is still lingering in my memory.

Enjoy it!

Thank you for your review. We cherish the tropical garden we've created and are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We also take pride in the food that we prepare ourselves according to local recipes (which we are always happy to share...). Do come back for another round.

I had a really wonderful stay in Sussegado. The atmosphere, the trees, the food and the company were excellent. The owner of this wonderful farm Ajit Malkanekar is an excellent cook, we ate fresh fish and fresh vegetables from the farm everyday. The dogs are awesome, the eldest Chilli is an excellent guide, she walked us to a river not far from the house and very kindly watched over us while we were swimming. This river is amazing to swim in. Its totally safe, and I highly recomend it to those who have an affinity to swim in natural bodies of water. We even say a crocodile in the far distance, but they dont come where we were.

Over all, the stay was comfortable, and safe. We had a good time there, and will definitely visit again.

Sussegado, a unique pocket of heaven not far from Madgaon. I miss it!

Thank you for your review, happy to hear that you enjoyed the stay. The nearby river is indeed a highlight, and some guests even swim there twice a day... It's in fact the river that runs down from Dudhsagar Waterfall, that's how our Plantation got it's name. Do visit again soon!
