Classic Cinema has been in Elsternwick "forever"... I remember growing up attending the Esquire Cinema, it's previous carnation.
Currently a little difficult, due to major renovation work, but I expect it will be better than ever afterwards.
(Management aware of issues, hence the blankets provided, due to lack of heating)

Thank Roz D

Many years ago it was the Esquire which i often visited for a saturday matinee. It has been the classic for a number of years and has six separate cinemas(soon to be 8) showing a mixture of mainstream and arthouse and is home to the Jewish film festival which has had some masterpieces over the years.Staff are young an d friendly and keen on movies.Parking may be problematic but there is several levels at Elsternwick station over the road.Restaurants are numerous in the immeadiate vicinity. If you have old vinyl records and nothing to play them on,bring them here.Seating is comfortable and brilliant in the smaller theatres

Great location, plenty of parking and a great feel of an old cinema. You can take a glass of vino/cup of coffee...Comfortable seats and intimate viewing of the big screen.

Asked employee who was chit chatting with another to take food order he said no so I queued at counter.
Vegetarian bao was off menu
Had toastee very very vinegary
The guy cooking used the same gloves to cook and handle food and serve food in cardboard container very unhygienic.
Then another guy snatched the straw container from us without a word.
Staff don't look happy and also as a member there should be a discount on food
Not good enough

Going to the classic cinema feels like a treat because of the gorgeous decor but you can see the latest movies too. Delicious popcorn and choc tops.
