“A Standout resort in Palolem!”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

We stayed in the Honeymoon Cottage at Dreamcatcher and the cottage was better than what we had expected. With the beautiful backwater right outside the verandah, the views and bird sightings from the cottage were amazing. Kingfishers, Eagles, Cormorants and Egrets can be seen regularly.

The cottage itself was very spacious and clean. Soft and comfortable mattresses, a mosquito net over the bed and basic furniture made it perfect. The bathroom was exceptionally large with a bathtub for two. The staff is available at all times if you need any help or service, though we did not need their services during our stay.

The resort is located very close to the Palolem beach and a 2 minute walk through a shaded alley way gets you to the beautiful sands. Being so close and yet being tucked away, Dreamcatcher became a great choice as after spending hours at the beach, we could come back to the peace and quiet of the resort.

The tariffs are a little steep but when compared to the facilities and comfort one gets at the other cheaper resorts (we did stay at one other resort that was much much cheaper!), this one is well worth the money. If you are on a serious budget and don't care too much about the shacks then you can choose the cheaper options, but if need comfort and cleanliness, Dreamcatcher is probably the best bet in Palolem!

An added bonus is the time spent chatting with Jackie and Walter, the adorable duo who run the place! I would definitely recommend this place to travellers visiting Palolem.

I booked a stay at Dreamcatcher resort for 4 nights and 3 days, based on the reviews at the resort's website and the videos found it to be a good one. It is actually overpriced thinking of the 'LESS Amenities". Though the site of the cute cottages made me happy with the "OM" playing at the background but the THRILLER came when my guy sorted FROGS inside the cottage..Eww!
Thanks to the back waters, my guy spend sleepless nights and days to catch and chase those leaping, jumping amphibians out as I am dead SCAREDD of them...
The good thing: Amazing grilled steaks and Prawn Grill...and yes the meditation therapy's, love you JACKIE for the De-stressing therapy.

Room Tip: Book a room which is sealed unless you want the FROGS jumping on you..Ew

It was my first time in Goa. The Dreamcatcher Resort had been recommended by friends who had been there previously. Its a really chilled out laid back place to stay. I rented a hut overlooking the river which was fabulous to wake up to in the mornings. I did not have any problems with mosuitoes despite being so close to the water. The food at Dreamcatcher is very good in my opinion. I have to admit I got addicted to the tandoori oven. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The beach is only a short walk and the little alleyway brings you out beside one of the best bars on the beach The Banyan Tree. All in all its a great place.

We were coming from Delhi, Agra and North Goa and this was the first place that we truly enjoyed in India. The Dreamcatcher is one minute walk from the beach, but it looks as it is already on the beach, as the huts and hammocks and palm treas are all surrounded by fine sand and the restaurant is just by a lagoon that's connected to the sea when there is high tide. Maybe other people expect other things form their rooms, but for me was perfect: a clean bed, a good shower, a nice balcony. There were many activities offered there such as yoga and meditation, which I didn't try, but my friends said they enjoyed.

We booked 10 nights in this accommodation after having left it a bit late and most of the other advertised places had sold out, although £30 a night (which is what we paid) seems like a fair price it is very much overpriced for what you get!
If you are a bit more daring I would advise just turning up and walking down the beach, you will get better for half the price!
If you're not sure, because there are a lot of good reviews on here, I'd advise booking for a few nights and taking it from there! Don't make the same mistake we did!

The first night we arrived we were kept up all night by dogs fighting outside the huts, our friends had arrived the day before and told us it had been exactly the same the night before! There is also cockerels in the resort that must be confused because they are going off every hour from 1am through till sunrise. Apart from this you get a wake up call around 6am from all of the wildlife waking up as the sunrises (which you get everywhere and is bearable as it only lasts a little while).

We immediately asks to be moved and to be fair to the management they moved us after the second night as they had another hut vacant. They upgraded us to a hut that was £35 a night, which was just about 5 meters closer to the river (wouldn't have been happy if we had paid the extra). This was slightly quieter and I found that using the fan drowned out the noise coming from the dogs and cockerels!
This place is not for the light sleeper! If you've already booked get some ear plugs!

Rooms were ridiculously basic and not all that secure from the previously mentioned wildlife! Hot water is non existent which is standard and not really required but the setup is dangerous and I actually got an electric shock from the shower at one point, the standard electric switches should not be mixed with a wet room which is in essence exactly what you get. Be careful and use something dry to flick the switches after showering! Apart from this you have to mop your own bathroom because the water doesn't run out the plughole and the room is pretty much always wet with dirty water! Not ideal! Our toilet cistern also leaked and the top did not fit on properly (kept falling off).
As for the main room, again basic but you do get a mosquito net which comes in useful, as there are a lot of them around considering your next to a fairly dirty river and a lot of trees. At low tide the river really smells and this no doubt attracts more of them. We got bitten a lot!
Coming back to the wildlife, we had 2 frogs living in the bathroom and when my partner was Ill in bed she had the pleasure of seeing a snake chasing a lizard through the main part of the hut on the beams that run across the roof! Safe to say she left pretty quickly!

The location was actually really good, it's just a shame that they think that this will make up for all the other flaws! The site is kept very clean and overlooks the river, which is stunning, although a bit smelly as previously mentioned! The restaurant is in an ideal location but the food average at best. You order something one day and the next day you could order the same thing and it would be totally different. We only really had breakfast here as the food wasn't up to much. It's a shame because although it's a large resort the standard of food was clearly reflected by the lack of people eating in the restaurant when we'd go for a quick beer before heading down to the beach to find a place to eat.

I'd avoid booking this accommodation and defiantly wouldn't stay again! The resort need to up their game if they want to charge these prices!

Set back a short walk away from the beach, really quiet, clean and spacious place to stay. The condition of the huts are basic - but equipped with what you need! The staff are all really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is good, set by the river. There are lots of restaurants in walking distance along the beach - as it is located at the furtherest spot at one end of the beach, you can walk 30 minutes past lots of places to get to the 'other side' of the beach.
Would stay here again without a doubt.

I stayed in the cheapest cottage type c which had double bed and bathroom. The shower was working great. Not a bad bathroom for a wooden cottage. If you are a light sleeper you need earplugs. The crows, dogs, cockerls and monkeys are awake at 4am. Staff are friendly and attentive. The spa is great and 5 mins from the beach

Room Tip: A basic cottage is fine if you are a budget backpacker. Splash out on something more expensive if yo...
