Beautiful collection of small sailing, rowing and power craft, with much other nautical stuff, and a second collection of local maritime history. Especially interesting to the IW-born (like me) but something for everyone. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, great value for money

A great place to visit and see some really interesting boats, including a FAB boat called Lady Penelope not to mention Uffa Fox's last craft and a dinghy given to the Queen and the Duke to mark the occasion of their wedding. There is even some modern Olympic craft alongside a WWII lifeboat that was dropped from Coastal Command aircraft to save downed airmen. Fantastic...

Lots of very interesting boats and artefacts. Well laid out with lots of interesting exhibits.
Located very near the Red Funnel ferry terminal so pop over on the ferry as a foot passenger and have an interesting trip. The admission charges are very reasonable and there is free parking if you are coming by car.

This is an inexpensive (£12 family ticket) and interesting way to spend a few hours. Well located - parking free outside and nearby, grab a sandwich from nearby locations, right on the harbour side - easy to find with a sat nag, and if you go with an open mind you may well enjoy.

I took a boaty 15 year old who was fascinated and 2 'not a scooby about boats' 14 and 10 year olds. Me - hopeless too, but we all had a very interesting time. There are 2 very close sites to explore - 1 is boats, the other is 'other boat related things of interest' - ask to see the DVD about the rescued Victorian yacht ( Marisota?) as it is a wonderful tale.

It is low tech, read and wander rather than touch and play. Staffed by volunteers and without an assured future, please pay it a visit.

I'd no idea boats could be quite so beautiful and elegant - some at least. Great variety on display and land lubbers welcome. Great for enthusiasts and those with a preparedness to be interested.

I wrote a review for the Museum a couple of years back but felt it worth reviewing again following its move to new premises close by the East Cowes Red Funnel Ferry terminal. Well laid out and as fascinating as ever I loved it. The interesting addition is the nearby archive display in a separate location which was doubly fascinating with its various themed displays and very knowlegible volunteer staff.Just HAD to take up being a Friend of the Museum which a failed to do after my last visit. I'll be back when next on the Island!
