Really enjoyed exploring Osborne House and the grounds. All the staff were great at answering any questions, and really seemed to love their job :) It was great to be able to enjoy some of our English history up close, and everything has been well looked after. We only had a couple of hours spare to explore, and there is still plenty that we didnt get to see, so will definitely go back again to explore the rest :)

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

We were back on the Isle of Wight for another holiday and decided to have a return visit to Osborne House. We had plenty of time to walk around the house and marvel at the interior. The guides were great. Full of enthusiasm and very knowledgeable. The paintings of the family are wonderful. Proper portraits. The house had a real family feel about it. I always thought that Queen Victoria was a bit aloof but the opposite is the case when you visit her home on the island. We visited the Swiss cottage which is amazing. All that just for the children. The gardens were in full bloom. Then we took the courtesy bus down to the beach. We had a wonderful day and will certainly visit again if we come back to the island.

“Pomp and circumstance but a wonderful day out”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

I visited with my family, and we had not been since I was a very young child, so not quite sure what to expect, but we were delighted and refreshed after a day at the Victorian seaside.

We visited the walled garden first, which was a wonderfully aromatic and tranquil place, and then strolled through the grounds down to the beach which has recently opened. There were deck chairs and an ice-cream café, so we had a nice break there taking in the solent.

We then walked to the Swiss chalet, which is rather sweet and has activities for children too.

Finally we visited the main house, which was incredibly Victorian (no surprises there) and imposing and quite eerie in some ways (plaster cast statues of Queen Victoria's babies' legs, creepy cherubs and more).

The best part was how the museum attendants were so knowledgeable and discreet, they would gauge the visitors interest and gently offer very interesting information and details. I am sure they are history graduates at the very least!
We ended the day with scones at the tea-house in the gift-shop.
Pricey but interesting day out for adults or young children who are happy to play in the grounds.

“Excellent day out and well worth the effort”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We were staying in the New Forest and decided to go to the Isle of Wight for a day trip and see Osborne House - it was well worth it. The gardens are lovely and the house itself preserved and maintained beautifully. I would recommend this day out to anyone, especially if the weather is nice.
Ps- don't expect too much from the restaurant there however. It looks quaint but service is very slow, menu limited and portion sizes average.
