Osbourne House is a lovely place with lots of see and do the only problem is knowing how to get around the site. We adopted what we thought would be a 'logical' route - the house (excellent!), the gardens at the rear of the house, down to the Swiss Cottage (very good), on to the beach (lovely - free deck chairs) and then back via the walled gardens (disappointing). But at each of these points signs were lacking to direct us from one point to the next, we followed one sign that did exist to the walled garden and ended up going all around the walls before we could find the entrance. Yes there was a good mini-bus service from the house area to the beach but it was hard to find the bus stops. So in summary a very interesting place but please do something to improve the signs!

Mother and I had not been to Osborne House before. We weren't disappointed. Everything was well presented and there were informative and helpful staff. Yes there were a lot of people but it was a rainy and murky sort of day so one expects that. The food was ample and well presented as well in the café. I would certainly return to Osborne as I felt the hour we spent did not do the place justice.

We came by bus (stop by entrance ) left our luggage in the foyer and enjoyed a great day. House first - so nice to see a Family Home rather than the Stately type - then Coffee on the Terrace. The sun came out so we walked to the Beach and then to Swiss Cottage. Our return to the house gave us a chance to enjoy an excellent lunch alfresco.

A memorable day out, but you do need good weather.

Really enjoyed exploring Osborne House and the grounds. All the staff were great at answering any questions, and really seemed to love their job :) It was great to be able to enjoy some of our English history up close, and everything has been well looked after. We only had a couple of hours spare to explore, and there is still plenty that we didnt get to see, so will definitely go back again to explore the rest :)

We were back on the Isle of Wight for another holiday and decided to have a return visit to Osborne House. We had plenty of time to walk around the house and marvel at the interior. The guides were great. Full of enthusiasm and very knowledgeable. The paintings of the family are wonderful. Proper portraits. The house had a real family feel about it. I always thought that Queen Victoria was a bit aloof but the opposite is the case when you visit her home on the island. We visited the Swiss cottage which is amazing. All that just for the children. The gardens were in full bloom. Then we took the courtesy bus down to the beach. We had a wonderful day and will certainly visit again if we come back to the island.
