My boyfriend and I visited hadleigh castle last summer. We stopped off at m&s on the way and picked up lunch, sounds boring, but the simplicity and relaxing nature of the day pared with the views over the sea made it a day I will never forget! There are also some lovely cows to pet on the way up to the castle :) bonus!

Great day out for the family, View the remains of a 800 Royal castle and enjoy the views of Essex and the Thames from a natural high point, with the rare breeds farm very close this is a great place to visit when the weather is nice

Stuck on a crumbling hill top which over the long years means most of the castle has fallen long ago or been robbed out, It is an intresting place to visit , and with money spent on it a few part could be restored to give a better idea of how it was

The Castle has deteriorated over the years, but the area offers nice views (well not quite Devon but still nice) good for children to have a run around. If you have an interest in wildlife there is flora and fauna and birds.

This is one of my favourite places to walk the dog. Lovely views over the Thames Estuary, challenging walking terrain and a piece of history. Great! Recommended for a picnic with the family too
