We stumbled on this hotel because the one we had booked (Hotel Chales Terra Nova) was a complete disaster and many hotels were closed for the season. This hotel is in an amazingly beautiful setting with a view of the valley and surrounded by the national park. The price was reasonable and included all meals, which were plentiful and good quality. There was an open fireplace and logs provided. The staff were friendly and the room small but comfortable. There is a pool (though in May it was a bit too cold to swim) and a lovely lounge area. The bird life close to the hotel is wonderful, with toucans, hummingbirds and many other species, as well as monkeys. You could spend all day watching the bird feeders.

Room Tip: Some are chalets and some are rooms. They allowed us to choose between two types.

A hotel in a beautiful location on a mountainside. The rooms look like mountain chalets and have their own fireplaces with fire laid. They are comfy and spacious. The food is delish and the staff more than accommodating. The birds around the hotel and at the feeders are wondrous. Br sure to try to see the resident owls!

Room Tip: If you don't like to climb, get a room close to the dining room.

THE place to stay in Itatiaia. Accomodation rustic but quite acceptable and well maintained. Food excellent. Sauna and pools in good condition. If weather bad you have snooker and table tennis. But the outstanding aspect is the range of beautiful birds you can see at the feeders. Saw monkeys also. At £100 per couple per day full board it is a bargain and far superior to the other hotel we used in the park.

This is a great place to stay if visiting the National Park, a two-hour bus ride from Rio. The hotel is nice, the staff are lovely and the food great. Bring warm clothes if you come in winter, as the hotel's location means it can be cold; and enjoy the walks, breakfasts watching birds and monkeys, the waterfalls, and the peaceful atmosphere.

This place is fantastic particularly, if you love birds. You can see many species at the feeders and on the grounds, even some that are difficult to see elsewhere. The fireplaces in each chalet are wonderfully cozy and in winter you will be glad for them. The showers have very hot water - also nice in winter. The food is excellent, so you might gain a pound! The setting is beautiful with views into the valley and ever changing clouds. Saturdays many people come for the churrasco grill during the afternoon. But you can always go on a hike in the surroundings. Once a day there also is a guided walk. But do not expect a birding guide there!
