We got a lunch recommendation from a winemaker for RISTORANTE LA BOTTEGA in Volpia where a delightful breeze made it cool in the shade accompanied by the fragrance of jasmine (probably Tuscan, not Confederate or Carolina jasmine). Seven of us shared meal of 4 appetizers, 4 pastas a Pinot Grigio with so much flavor it might not be recognized as such at home and a rose from Sangiovese. Café and grappa; what a life. The peaceful view of pleasant rolling hills reminded me of the North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains. There is a small, attractive hotel in Volpia which beckons for another visit.
