While staying in a villa across the street, we could not resist booking a morning hike through the vineyards and lunch at this delightful winery. The hike included a local guide who was well versed in horticluture and the vineyard operations.

My wife and I learned a great deal about what trees, bushes and other plants surrounding the vineyards were actually used for. From Mulberry trees, willows, and maples, each was purpose driven.

At the end of a moderately strenuious hike, you will see 400' elevation gains/losses over the two hours; we ended up back at the winery for our tour. Needless to say, it was hot and we were pretty sweatly at this point; the cool air of the fermentation area was a welcome relief. Bring Hiking Shoes/Boots for footing, you will need them in the vineyards.

For lunch…….were to start; ours was five course meal with four different wines perfectly paired with all courses served in a private dinning room for two. Great selection of cheese, meats, pasta, burschetta, pork loin, cake, ahhh, getting a little hungry just thinking of this.

It was alittle spend, but hey, it's how they make their money and they were excellent hosts. Will have pictures soon.

At castello di Monterinaldi you can have lunch during the tasting. This way they pair their wines with food, which is better than just tasting wine (IMO). For just 35 euro's you can enjoy a great Tuscan lunch with nice wines. And if you are lucky you will have olive oil cake for dessert. We were, and it was great!!! Since lunch space is limited, I advise to make a reservation in advance.

We visited this winery in the fall of 2017, and enjoyed tasting their superb wines. The reserve wines were so amazing. we shipped two cases plus some of their olive oil. The winery is lovely and the staff was very welcoming.
