As we drove through the hill country of the Chianti area south of Florence we found ourselves in the town of Radda for a late lunch. We stopped at Caffe San Niccolo to sit in the shade and take a load off. I was too hot to order something heavy and hot so we ordered a glass of wine and a Caprese Salad. The wine was good. The tomatoes were excellent. The fresh Mozzarella was very good. The service was good. But I have to say, the reason I am not giving them 5 stars is that the Caprese had dried oregano sprinkled on it instead of the fresh basil that we would expect for this time of year especially. Though the salad was still good it would have been a whole lot better with the fresh basil that we wanted and expected. Maybe they ran out.
