The hotel is set in a small piazza in the quiet historic centre of Radda - sitting outside it is a lovely location to linger over breakfast. Staff were very friendly, the hotel has an intimate feel centred on the cafe eating area.
We arrived late and they made us feel very welcome.

If you are doing the Eroica, this hotel is ideally located and they have a separate secure garage where you can assemble/ store your bike ready for the big event. The Eroica route goes through Radda, but would recommend that you drive the 11k to Gaiole for the start.

Room Tip: Avoid third floor if you dont like low beams.

Radda is a lovely medieval town in the Chianti region and a great place to base yourself when touring the area. The Hotel Palazzo San Niccolo just adds to the experience of staying in such a beautiful place. Our room was spacious, very clean and quiet and faced the town church and square which gave you a great feel of Italy.Staff were both helpful and pleasant and overall we could not of chosen anywhere better for our first visit to the region.

Room Tip: Our room number was 204 and had a lovely view of the church and Main Street.

We spent five days in Palazzo San Niccolo at the beginning of August and loved it there. Staff was nice and helpful, rooms clean, area wonderful! Just a tiny tip for improvement: we had an ordinary room 401 (ask for this room if you are a smoker - it is just next to a wonderful terace ;-) in which the shower was very small. The management wanted the best, I suppose, so it is equipped with massage shower but there simply is not enough room to turn around with this device. Maybe during the next reequipment I suggest putting an ordinary shower in there to save the little space there is (also it would be nice to have a couple more hangers in the closet, there was not enough for two people). Otherwise it was just amazing.

Room Tip: As I said, ask for the rooms next to the terrace on second floor if you are a smoker.

We spent a lovely week at the Palazzo San Niccolo earlier in June. The hotel suited out needs perfectly. Our room (Junior Suite) was very nicely decorated with a large bathroom. It would have been nice to have had a proper window so we could look out out on the superb local views but the skylight provided a romantic view of the stars. The breakfast was also very good. We loved having such a wide choice of fresh local produce! Likewise it was nice to have a choice of sitting outside or indoors. We also enjoyed having access to the swimming pool at the Palazzo Leopoldo. The pool is quite small but is very atmospheric and we had the pool to ourselves anyway on both occasions that we visited.

The thing we liked most though was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They always had a smile on their faces. When we were asked for advice about getting to Florence for example, they were very happy to print off the local train times for us.

The hotel is well located on the main street (it is a very quiet village so there are no issues with noise) and there are several good restaurants just around the corner. All in all we thought this was an excellent base for our holiday. The only slight challenge we had was finding the hotel car park. However once we had figured it out then it was very useful to have access to!

Room Tip: I suggest asking for a room with a window if you would like a view of the village/ area.

We had a fantastic stay at this romantic hotel. We stayed for 13 nights. We would like to thank David who upgraded our room to a deluxe room. This was a great room with two large windows overlooking the village. It had a wonderful painted seiling. The bathroom had a whirlpool bath/ shower.
Breakfast was great and in buffet style. Coffee was served personally which was great. We drank latte macchiato every day.
We especially like thank Claudio for his services.
This doesn't mean that we forget all the other staff members. Thanks to all of You.
The hotel is located in a low traffic area but the staff will give You a key to open the gate to the village so you can park in front of the hotel.
We always had a parking space behind the hotel within the white lines (the blue lines are payed places).
The village has several restaurants. From cheap to expensive. We always tried something else.
Overall we had a wonderful stay.
Thank U all.

The Palazzo San Niccolo in Radda in Chianti is a hidden gem in Chianti that is by far the best kept secret in all of Chianti. It was remodeled a few years ago and is everything you could ask for with respect to location, comfort and value. It is situated on on the main street of Radda within walking distance of several restaurants, shops and a fabulous groceria. Each room has walls and ceilings that are hand-painted and make you feel like you are sleeping in the Sistine Chapel. The breakfast, which is included, in the price of the room, is one of the best we have ever encountered in all of Tuscany. Most importantly, the staff is very friendly and will do whatever it takes to make your stay wonderful. This staff and the services they provide is reason alone to stay at the Palazzo San Niccolo.

Room Tip: The least expensive rooms are more than adequate.
