“AMAZING!!! SIMPLY THE BEST!”
Reviewed 1 October 2011

We were upgraded to a suite when we got there... I think that it was because we were on our honeymoon, but whatever the reason, it was AMAZING!!! The staff is excellent and it was by far one of the best BREAKFASTS we had during our entire trip to Italy. It is not widely known by looking at the website, but they have an amazing dinner service, it is served and especially cooked just for you and the small amount of guests with you. There is only one option for dinner each night and the menu is posted for guests at breakfast so you can decide if you want to dine there or try somewhere else. I recommend staying... the food was great! Also, they own two wineries, and give personalized wine tasting and tours of the operational side of the business. I learned so much and highly recommend... and the best part, FREE for guests! The views are 360 degrees around the entire hotel... and are amazing!

We decided to go to Livernano because of the recommendations on TripAdvisor. We drove from Florence to Livernano, but close to Radda, we sort of got lost since this location was not showing on our GPS. Fortunatelly we found a signage of the hotel and we found it! We had dinner there when we arrived, The food was delicious! The best lasagna I have ever had! The room and service were great! The best of all was the location. Just perfect!

We only spent 5 days at Livernano and wish we had stayed 10. Great people, especially the manager Daniela. She even helped change a flat tire on our rental car, can you believe that?

Rooms was huge with large bath that included a Jacuzi tub and shower. Dining was a true experience and we cancelled several reservations around Tuscany area in order to dine there four of the five nights. In the heart of the Chianti area of Tuscany and close to many, many charming towns.

We will be going back.

From the moment we arrived at Livernano, we were awed by the natural beauty and old-world charm of this glorious vineyard. The spirited and friendly staff clearly loved coming to work every day and took wonderful care of us. The menu changed daily and reflected the regional flavors with home grown vegetables and herbs, delicious Tuscan fare at its best. The luxurious accommodations combine local antiques with modern comforts to ensure that we had everything we could possibly need. Would we go back?
Only if we could stay longer!

Stunning view and decor, incredible staff, and food/wine that is unmatched even in Rome. We stayed there for four nights and couldn't get over the amazing gardens, vineyards and view. It was like owning your own home in Italy with a butler/staff. I can say that the trip truly changed our lives as the food was all created from the garden and the organic and healthy nature of it essentially has cured my wife's lymphodemia. She ate all organic food for four days which allowed us to realize the sodium in basic cooking ingredients in the states was causing the swelling that our doctor said was a common side effect of radiation/chemotherapy treatment. I can't say enough about how memorable our trip was.

Livernano was an "experience". The hotel itself was exquisite and the views were magnificent! I have never eaten such delicious food as I did when I was there. The owners of the hotel were very sweet and accommodating. I would love to bring my parents there. It was also extremely relaxing and peaceful if you want to take a break from site seeing (and Italian outlet shopping right near by!) I hope to return again soon for a perfect vacation!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Livernano is a truly ancient place. It was first inhabited by Etruscans, whose culture reached its high-point in Tuscany over 2500 years ago, around 500BC. The hamlet was later occupied by the Romans, who gave it its name. Long after the cessation of Roman rule, Livernano served as a fortified border post during the interminable wars of the two great mediaeval city states in Tuscany, Siena and Florence. Our small, beautifully preserved Romanesque church dates back to the 11th century. In the 17th century, when the territorial wars between Siena and Florence had finally come to an end, Livernano turned into a quiet farming village. At the end of WWII, when the ancient system of share-cropping (mezzadria) was abandoned, Tuscany suffered grinding poverty. The beautiful countryside, tended by humans for millennia, became almost entirely depopulated. The last farmers left Livernano in 1953. The hamlet regained new life in 1990, when the complete restoration of the entire estate was begun. Today, Livernano is once again a working farm, producing fine wines, excellent olive oil and honey, vegetables and fruits. On 38 acres new vineyards were planted with 9 different grape varieties. In the ancient olive groves, new trees were planted and we now tend close to 1000 trees, all of native Italian varieties. The remaining 420 acres consist of beautiful mature woodland that surrounds the hamlet on all sides. Three houses have been completely redesigned and furnished with local antiques to accommodate guests. Although situated in splendid isolation amidst forests, vines and olive groves, Livernano is close to many local towns, historic sites, fine restaurants, and famous wineries. The shopping and cultural centres of Florence and Siena are only a short drive away. ... more   less
