“Cool Cafe”

We had several meals here when we were on holiday in West Bay in August. Friendly staff and tasty meals. Very child friendly and the children could play on the beach close by while we had a sly glass of wine!

“Best restaurant location in Bridport and West Bay”
Reviewed 30 August 2012

We have been going to the sister Hive Beach Cafe in Burton Bradsock for years and the Watch House Cafe did not dissapoint!

Another wonderful setting and excellent food. We also had the wood fired pizzas - yummy - just wish they did pizzas at lunchtime too!

“Nice spot but expensive pizza”
Reviewed 29 August 2012

Mixed feelings about this place. The recent makeover has transformed a very lack-lustre beach cafe into a fabulous location to eat right on the beach at West Bay. Had previously had coffee here and liked the atmosphere so brought family and friends to try the food late one afternoon. One of our party had the mackerel fillets which were great. Came with a decent salad and bread too. The rest of us had the pizzas from the wood fired oven. Tasty and well made but rather on the small side and not exactly overflowing with toppings either. Not good value at all considering they were about £11 each. Also most of the icecream flavours had run out which was a bit odd considering it was not a hot day when we visited. We couldnt help feeling there was something rather complacent about it all which is odd in such a new establishment. Perhaps it was just an off day.

“Unexpected gem”
Reviewed 29 August 2012

We had lunch here on Bank Holiday Monday, under the awning, with a gale blowing and rain lashing down. Very glad we did - we could watch the oven chef preparing my roasted mackerel - the best I have ever tasted. The main kitchen did a Greek salad and a child's portion of mussels - both raved over. A huge roasted brill and an equally huge crab was served at the loud table next to us - the very best way to bring a little peace and quiet!. A little over a week earlier we had been dining at bistros in Le Touquet and I thought nothing in England could come close, but I'm pleased to say I was wrong. Don't be put off by the slightly ramshackle exterior; the food and service are great.

“Poor portions”
Reviewed 28 August 2012

My wife and I went there this afternoon. It has a very nice atmosphere and location. We ordered the Pisces pizza. It was freshly cooked in a wood burner oven. Very fresh. Our disappointment was when it arrived, it had two 'bits' of prawn, two squid rinds and two mussels...for £11.
It tasted great, but too overpriced for what we got. When asked by the waitress how we enjoyed our meal, we explained about the shortage of seafood..she smiled and walked away...no 'I'll mention to the cooks' or I'll speak to someone'.
Come on...a bit more seafood...don't be mean.
